THIS AND MANY MORE…

For an undeveloped country like mine, it is no longer a surprise that some localities lack some necessary basic infrastructure and my locality is no different. I had to change my locality recently because I got admission into the university and I’ve come to realize that my school lack some basic infrastructure that makes me really sad. Personally, I’m not one that loves visiting the hospital or health care for anything but then that won’t automatically make my sickness or disease go away.

Some months ago, after our Bible study class in the evening, rain fell so the road was muddy and slippery. A girl was in a haste to get a message across to her brother and she tripped while trying to pass by the side of a slippery ground that was covered with muddy water. She fell and got herself drenched in the muddy water. She was seriously hurt because she fell hard to the ground. She could barely stand to her feet so those that were around there had to help her stand to her feet.

Good thing there was someone around who had a car and was willing to help take her to the health center. We had to stop by her hostel to get some clothes since we knew she won’t be able to take care of herself with her body in pain. I was so surprised when we got to the health center only to realize that there was no electricity!!! Like how is that even possible? At least they should have put on the generator or something I thought to myself because prior to that time my school was having a big issue with electricity so I wasn’t expecting electricity from the power holding company.

At that point, all I could think of was those patients inside, I can imagine some of them even giving up already because the health center completely looked like a haunted house. So if a federal school health center can be like that I can imagine how those outside might be suffering as well. Health centers and hospitals have been greatly neglected in so many localities and we hear of people dying just for the poor health facilities and equipments.

So if there is one thing I’d love the Government to do in my locality is to improve more on our health centers and government hospitals so people won’t die for no good reason. Like I said, personally I don’t fall seriously sick often so I don’t even have any reason to visit the health center or hospital except I’m visiting someone there so I can cope with it but then I know others need it and I really wonder how they are coping because I’m very sure it’s not easy for them.

Besides the government, I believe we all have a role to play, having these infrastructures in place, those in charge of them can help by using and maintaining them well so they can last longer and also so others can use them too. I’ve seen a lot of things that were once in place but today they are no where to be found because of mismanagement and mishandling.

Like seriously, healthcare is a very crucial part that needs urgent attention, because people are just dying daily due to lack of necessary facility and service, and that's why "they" run abroad for adequate treatment because they know what we have here is substandard.

I would always say,in all thy getting, get electricity. You can't underestimate it's effects on your mood, welfare, comfort, health etcetera..
There are occasions when I would just be restless, wouldn't occur to me that's it due to lack of electricity until I see light . The immediate joy and enhancement that brings to my mental health can't be over emphasized.
Health care services can't be productive without electricity. Prioritizing it is for our own good .
