Forgetting is a very common nature of humans. I think there is no one who hasn't forgotten anything in life. The difference is some people forget things accidentally and some people forget things frequently. Forgetting something by accident is not a serious issue, but it's a matter of concern for those who forget things frequently. Doesn't matter how one forgets; there must be consequences, and sometimes we need to pay a heavy price for it.
From childhood, I had the habit of forgetting, which was very frequent. For the habit, I needed to face many consequences even in my academic career, and I suffered a lot. It's good that for my continuous practice and dedication, that thing can never be an obstacle to my academic career. Let me share one of the worst consequences of forgetting nature, which is related to academics.
It was the time when I was reading at the intermediate (class XII) level. I was attending the last qualifier test for the final exam, and I was doing well with my exam. All of the exams were at noon. After finishing some exams for a reason, our college made an announcement. In that announcement, it was said that one exam would occur in the morning because of some issues at the college.
Unfortunately, I forgot about it, and on that day I was preparing for the exam at home, but the exam already started. Approximately 45 minutes passed, and I had no idea that the exam had already started. All of a sudden one of my friends called me and asked where I was as the exam started. I immediately remembered the announcement. Without making any delay, I rushed towards college. Luck was not on my side, and I faced a traffic jam. It was like everything was against me. When I reached my exam hall, it was 1 hour and 20 minutes late. I had 1 hour and 40 minutes remaining to finish my exam.
Attending the exam after being so late is against the rules. I belonged to the topper, and fortunately, the teachers knew me well and explained the situation to them, and they allowed me to face the exam in the remaining time. My teachers did me a favor on that day based on my past reputation. I couldn't do anything if they didn't allow me to face the exam as it was the normal and simple rule. If I could not attend the exam, I would surely fail that exam, and as I said, it's the qualifier exam before the final exam, so I would not be able to qualify for the final exam. I could miss one year, and it would be a huge loss for me.
I am thankful to my friends, who took the risk to call me and made me remember about the exam, and again I am thankful to my teachers, who allowed me to face the exam even if it was against the rules. I think teachers have done me a favor considering my future. I passed the exam, and I didn't lose a year. I am just thinking about what would happen if I couldn't face the exam. Maybe I was lucky also to be able to face the exam. It could give me the maximum loss in my life just because of forgetting nature.
