Giving a helping hand

Money is the most important thing for all of us, and we are undoubtedly running after money as we need it to survive. Time is precious, as time is equal to money if we use it in the right way. So we don't want to spend our time, which is not beneficial to us, and having such a mindset is natural.

We are busy with our own lives, and we don't have time for others, which is the truth, although we don't want to believe it. That's the reason many of us don't have any time for social work, as it's not so beneficial and non-profitable to us. Instead of it, there are always a few people who are ready to provide social service when necessary. All of us appreciate such a kind of work, but we don't bother to engage ourselves in such a kind of activity as it costs us time, which we don't want to lose.

I am a person who loves to stay indoors most of the time, and in the case of social activity, I always try to avoid it, as I don't consider myself a socially active person. If someone thinks of me as a selfish person, I don't mind because I also think I am a selfish person, but I don't harm others for my selfishness. I mostly think about my benefits, and my emotions are highly dominated by me. So, most of my decisions are based on logic, and I don't consider emotions too much while deciding except for some exceptions. Kindness, helping others, and social work are rarely done by me. Still, sometimes there are expectations.

4/5 months ago, many places in my country flooded, and this time the consequences were the worst, as this time the flood broke all the records of the past. Many people also lost their lives because of the unexpected flood. I am fortunate enough that my local area did not have any significant consequences from the flood, and life was normal here. But many people were stuck in flooded areas, and they were suffering a lot as there was no clear water to drink. No food to eat and no electricity to change their devices, and they lost connection with others. It was like they were living a life in a prison. In fact, they were in worse condition than a prisoner because prisoners at least got food in time.

Many foundations and organizations were collecting money from general people for arranging food and some necessary things for those flood-affected people, and I really appreciate their work. I contributed little finance based on my capability in some organizations, as I felt it was my responsibility because, as a human, I should give a helping hand in any form as long as capable. Humanity is a thing that makes us human.

I was connected with one of my university associations, and it decided to send the maximum possible help to the flood-affected people. I gave financial help, but in the association, there was a shortage of people to make all the arrangements. I don't know why; maybe for the sake of humanity, I decided to give a helping hand. I went there, helped to buy the necessary things, and packed everything to send to those in the flood-affected area. From one perspective, I needed to work hard for that, and I spent more than 12 hours doing so.

I know it was not beneficial or profitable to me, but it gave me satisfaction. The surprising thing is I enjoyed doing that rather than feeling tired. Everyone who was there to give a helping hand worked from their heart, and everyone was quite happy. I met some kind people, and everyone shared the responsibility. For the sake of humanity, all of us became one, and we have done our work so seriously that we don't do our other tasks so seriously even if we get paid for it. Maybe it's the power of humanity; even a robotic-minded person like me couldn't overlook it.

Most of us stay away from social life and activities not because we dislike it but because we are busy earning money to survive. It's nice of you to help those affected by the flood.

I also think so. Making money is the most difficult thing and takes our time and we hardly manage time for doing other activities. So it's natural to have no time for it and it is understandable. I think I have done something that I should do in such a situation.

Thanks for helping those affected by the flood, I pray for more financial stabilities for you to do more for humanity. You are accepted on their behalf

I felt that it was my responsibilities to offer my helping hand although I am such a person who don't usually do that. May be it was the demand of the crisis situation and I couldn't ignore it.

There is always a feeling if satisfaction after voluntary service if done wholeheartedly. The feeling that you were a part of something that made a lot of people happy.

Hmm. It can give us satisfaction and make us happy although from the financial perspective it's not beneficial for us.

Kudos to you for helping. While you thought you did not benefit from your hard work and time, the satisfaction you felt afterward speaks louder than words. Your soul was happy and thus, you were satisfied.

Those who love social work will do it not for the benefits they might get but for the happiness it gives them. I love helping people when I can and it always gives me this kind of feeling that makes me satisfied.

it was not beneficial or profitable to me, but it gave me satisfaction

That satisfaction within is a lot already. Good enough you was able to assist in your capacity.
Whenever we can, service to humanity is a good practice.

Omo... It's not easy being displaced from your home and having something beyond your control wipe everything away. These people need our help and I'm glad you stepped up to the act. You did well!
