Social media plays a significant role in our lives in this digital world. We have Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and other popular social media. Almost all of us use social media, and it's indeed rare to find a person who doesn't have any access to any social media in this present world.

In the current world, social media can create huge influence because everyone can access it, and everyone can communicate with each other through social media, which has become easier compared to the past times. Right now social media is not limited only to communication. It's highly related to business, and I think there is no way to ignore the influence of social media.
A social media account of a person is a personal property, and there is no doubt about it. In social media, we are allowed to share our thoughts without any kind of hesitation, and that's the reason we are fearless on social media.
Finance is the most important thing for survival, and to earn money we need to work, as money never comes to our hands without making an effort. Everyone is not capable of doing business, and so most of us end up searching for jobs to earn money. Every company wants qualified employees, and they select employees based on their requirements.
The reputation of a company matters a lot, and each employee is the representative of a company. Depending on the position, an employee is capable enough to influence social media, and so many companies ask for the social media handle of the employee. Do you think it's the right thing? Does a company need to do such a thing? Do you think companies are interrupting our privacy in such a case?
A company has its concern about reputation, and trying to protect it at any cost is natural. For safety reasons, asking for the social media handle is not wrong either from the side although it's a personal matter of employees if they want to share it or not.
Let's talk about it from my perspective. I think my social media account belongs to me, and sharing it with others is fully dependent on me, and I think a company has no right to force me to share it. I always try to keep my personal and professional life different. So, I have the right not to share the social media handle. But the real question is, will I share my social media handle if it's the requirement of a job?
Before saying the answer, I think all of us should know what the meaning of social media handles is. It's the username of our social media, and as long as I know, sharing the username is not harmful. We use the username in social media because it helps others to find us. Let me assume that the company knows my social media username. What will happen? Can they find our information there?
I think we are forgetting that we are living in the digital world, and on every social media platform, there are privacy settings where we can select who can read us. So unless we want the company to read us, it's not possible for the company to find out about the data that we post in there. The company can get the information only that we share with the public, and I think how we share something public, then I think there is something wrong, and the company reads that. Moreover, I think it's not so difficult in this digital world to find the username of an employee even if the employee doesn't share it.
But still, I feel that it should be an optional thing. The company forcefully wants to read every post to us and ask my permission. I think it's not right, and it violates the law as it's against privacy. But if the company gives me a decent amount for my job, I am ready to share and give permission to read my posts because I know I am not active on social media, so there will be no posts from me. When I don't share anything on social media, then why should I lose my dream job for such a thing?

Some won't like to share it because of their immorality act online... because why hide from certain people if what you are posting isn't bad
That can also be a reason. In that case, they must be in fear before posting something unreasonable.

You own your social media handle and no one can restrict you from using it unless you give it out. You don't have access or right to posting what you desire once any company has access to your accounts and yes, it depends on us if we want to release our account or not when asked for.
I think company can't see everything even if getting social media handle unless we make post something that is allowed to see by everyone.

Omo... In this day and age, I feel there will always be a way around these restrictions and privacy settings. And you might not always know the names of your bosses, or if they even use burner account. The risk will always be there.
