No, banning a tool or tech is not a solution but instead students should learn how to harness the power of tech. Instead of not allowing phones, the school should allow them to submit it before the session and students should be allowed to use it after the session is over. While I agree with you on the distraction part, we must also acknowledge that it's unavoidable and students will sooner or later have phone and when they do they should be well aware of its pros and cons. The schools should encourage the students to use tech for the learning new things and learning faster. But this is just my opinion and implementing it is another set of challenges on it own.
