That's the way it is. Although they may receive a different kind of blessing – attention/applause from people. Probably, that's the kind of blessing they want.
Doing good to others doesn't in any way make them indebted to you. If you want them to repay you, you can simply tell them from the onset to prepare their minds. If they'd repay your kindness, good. If not, let it be. Don't be entitled
