Yesterday, a neighbor surprised my mom with a gift of fruits while I was getting my hair done. It was a kind gesture, and my mom and I were both grateful.
However, after finishing my hair, I noticed that the fruits were gone, and my mom was outside. I immediately assumed that she had eaten them all without sharing. I was annoyed and wondering why she would do that.
But here's the thing: I didn't bother asking her about it. I just assumed. It wasn't until later, when I was searching for something, that I stumbled upon the fruits in a basket. My mom had simply put them away, maybe she was intending to share them with me later.
In that moment, I felt a mix of emotions. I realized that my assumption had been completely wrong, and that I had let my emotions get the better of me.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson: don't assume or conclude without asking questions.
Communicate and be assertive in your relationships. Holding grudges can be unnecessary and harmful.
It's easy to get caught up in our own thoughts and emotions, but it's so important to take a step back and ask questions. To seek clarification and understanding. To communicate openly and honestly.
As we start a new week, I encourage you to reflect on your own relationships and interactions. Are there any areas where you're making assumptions or jumping to conclusions? Are there any relationships that could benefit from more open and honest communication?
Let's strive to be more mindful and intentional in our interactions with others. Let's seek to understand and communicate, rather than assume and react.
I hope this personal experience has resonated with you, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!
