My escape routes out of boredom

in Hive Learners19 days ago
About three weeks ago, while I surfed X for updates on airdrops, which I do daily, I stumbled upon some attractive movie selections that caught my attention. I picked up my pen and scribbled about eight of them. Of course, I had a fairly constant power supply and reliable paid-for internet connectivity. I was excited as I wrote them down; truly, I was sincere about watching them, even though a good number of them were old movies. However, deep within my heart was a lurk of reality that chuckled at my fantasy. I have always been the busy type, and personally, I do not even envy myself. I could say I am a jack of all trades, mastering none in particular, maybe knowing something about everything and not everything about some things.

Out of the eight movies, I have successfully not watched any. Although I began with 'Queen of the South' which unfortunately has met with an untimely termination. My free time is kind of very limited, with spontaneous work eruptions. But beyond the ever-busy schedules, there are rare occasions of boredom and idleness that I experience and therefore find activities to ameliorate or alleviate the state of the mind.

Being a relatively active individual, boredom and idleness do not sit well with me. But they are moments that I cherish, as oftentimes I slump into such states or the body navigates into such as a result of fewer assignments or obligations to do.

MOVIES

This is my favorite go-to when I'm not stressed and equally unwilling to step out of my comfort zone, oftentimes my house. Although I stumble upon watching movies occasionally, when I get really idle and have no tasks haunting me, I launch the Netflix app and begin my hunt for interesting movies. Unfortunately, I do not go by recommendations since I have none, and all the movies aforementioned were not found on Netflix except the latter. And yes, I'm too lazy to start searching other sites for recommended movies. Thus, if I find any movie that catches my attention, I hop on it and likely enjoy the ride alone.

SLEEP

Since I am mostly grossly deprived of sleep, I do not hesitate to succumb to sleep whenever I feel bored or idle. In fact, I could just take a ride on my bicycle within my spacious compound as a form of exercise and get a shower afterwards. Having a fan breeze some air over my head after a shower and a movie in my front often leads me to the wonderland of sound sleep. This sleep is often different from when my body demands it as a result of excessive stress. Engaging in sleep when I'm bored is often accompanied by putting my phone on silent mode. Oftentimes, when I wake up, there are some assignments waiting for me to get sorted.

EVENING WALKS

My neighborhood is a GRA setting, which has every compound or resident minding his or her own business. Taking strolls around the neighborhood and reaching areas with increased activity gets my mind away from boredom and idleness. Evening walks are an activity I look forward to as I get side attractions that distract my idle mind.

PHONE CONVERSATIONS

This happens to be a last resort, except the call is to a friend I have missed talking to for a protracted period. And especially, such a friend must be good at bringing topics that I can resonate with.
