Year by year, we learn and unlearn. As every year passes, we grow, build, and discover ourselves. Every year comes with different lessons. Some years teach us lessons the hard way, while others allow us to learn more easily. 2024 was a rollercoaster of a year filled with many lessons. Although it was far from being my best year ever, it wasn't so bad in the end, thanks to the beautiful people who made my life flow more seamlessly. Looking back, there are many things I did in 2024 that were detrimental not only to my health and physical well-being but also to those around me. Today is the third day of the new year and as I reminisce on these things, I have decided that it would be best to let go of some habits and actions from 202. This will allow me to grow well in all areas and achieve the best possible outcome for myself.
One of the things I used to do in 2024 but would no longer do this year is to take my health and eating habits with levity. Growing up, I was a picky eater. I am the last born of my family, so I often get away with things. If I didn't like a meal, all I needed was to request whatever I liked and my mom would command my siblings to prepare it for me. I was stuck with my weird picky eating habits throughout my elementary and high school years. However, when I got to the university, I lived with a roommate in my first year and had to blend in. Still, I could go hours without eating, as long as I had what to snack on. According to the doctor, I should take more fruits, and vegetables and eat well every day. Throughout 2024, all I did was go against the doctor's words. It was as if I made special efforts to make sure I didn’t heed his words. That wasn't entirely the case- school got my hands tied. Sometimes, I’d go to school in the morning and return in the evening- I’d be too stressed when I returned, so I would just buy snacks instead of cooking. This is one of the things I would love to stop in 2025.
Next on the list is placing others before myself in the exam hall. During the exam period, a night before each exam, my coursemates and I often hold an all-nighter where we treat the course from the beginning till the end. On the morning of the exam, most of my coursemates always wanted to sit beside me in the exam hall because they knew I would tell them the answers. Sometimes, some of them feel entitled. I mean, I am not entitled to tell you answers in the exam hall, I only do this because I don’t want you to fail. What were you doing when I was reading? They distract you in the exam hall and sometimes you end up losing focus or not completing your work. I remember what happened last semester- it Was one of the toughest courses I had ever taken. I didn't give my coursemates answers during the exam. One, there was limited time. Also, I had to think well. After the exam, I heard they said awful things about me. This year, things are going to be different. One of the things I want to stop doing is placing others before myself in the exam hall.
On the other hand, there are many things I failed to do or simply neglected to pay attention to in 2024 that I would love to see this year. I used to think I was a good person. “Are you a good person?”- If you asked me this question 3 months ago, I would boldly reply with my chin up tha I am at that time. But, I have realized that I am just an ordinary person trying to be good. In the past few months, I have realized that my actions have caused pain to others. This year, the goal is to pay extra attention to those around me and make sure my actions don’t hurt them in any way. I may or may not have started this year on the right note, but there is still enough time to make amends.

For the exam hall own, I faced same thing while in school and almost got myself in big problem when my seatmate took my papers, had it not been that the invigilator saw her taking it, it would have been concluded that I was the one that gave It to her and faced the consequences with her but it's bygone now sha.

Changes are normal and we must initiate them whenever we notice a need for some, because not all happens naturally, it's great to see that you'll be making a Change regarding your experience in the exam hall, I know how some people can feel entitled and even make you forget things due to their distraction in the hall, so prioritising yourself first is essential.
Changing the habit of eating is also good and it's good to see that you'll be putting that off despite being a last born who's used to getting away with demanding something different from whatever is having.

I understand that one of exam hall very well. I have also being in that situation countless of times but then my classmates don't rely one me for answers that much because they believe others know better than I do. Which I is a win-win situation for me😂😂. But omo I am not all that innocent as well. I also ask for answers in exam hall but I am not heavily reliant on others,once I see someone doesn't reply me or i am making them feel comfortable, I would simply just move on and find a way to answer the questions.
Hehe. I don’t have a problem with people who ask for answers in the exam hall. If you ask and I know it, ill tell you if I can, but some people are so entitled. They want you to leave your work and focus on them.

Cooking would save you money instead of buying snacks out there. In another way, it is bad to show out your answers to your colleagues, as this would make them be ahead of you.

Reading through this, I was smiling, I’m not sure why though.
Working on ourselves can be one of the hardest things to do, especially when we thought we’ve got it all figured out. When it comes to learning, most times you have to unlearn some things for the new knowledge to make sense and that is not something a lot of us want to do, hence we prefer to stick to what we already know.
