Over the years diverse means of communication has been invented from the errand people, to delivery birds, to the letter writing, fax, and later on internet started evolving (Yahoo mail). All these were means of bringing man to feel they are close to those who are distance away from them and as far as I know it has helped in creating bond quite alright and till date improvement is still ongoing until...
We had the rise of lastest social medias, and it has forced people to even come out of their shells and be more interactive... I myself started with 2go, later then eskimi, waplog and some I can't remember until I stumbled into Facebook in the year 2011 I guess. It was really awesome with the mini - handset back then I enjoyed every moment of it (but there was time limit, phone wasn't mine) whenever I lay my hands on that phone is like the whole universe is paused and I just get lost of time track
When my aunt traveled then, I was forced to leave FB for a while because there wasn't any phone I could use to login, it hurt me though as i felt distant from all my online folks.
Chatting has really helped me meet people from far and wide, even the hive I'm rocking today I got to meet my mentor merit.ahama on a WhatsApp group chat where we later got to know each other and things has been awesome with us
But like we know, everything that has it's awesome side also has it's flaws ... But my flaws can't be compared to the value and benefits I've gotten from chatting online. The major negative effect I've noticed is getting lost of time track
Especially when I'm on Instagram, TikTok or WhatsApp... But I've been trying my best to channel that attention to the Hive blog by doing my best to engage, explore and learn more
I'll conclude by saying Social media is awesome, I'll testify it has caused no harm or issue to the present generation, the only problem we have is discipline and prioritizing it with other things that matters more... Social media as really come along way. Though it is time consuming it is also fun. Although I would totally disagree with your statement about social media causing no harm, if we can become disciplined maybe the harm might become lesser.

I've never been a huge user of social media, but the arguments used against it are the same arguments that have been used time and time again. Socrates, as much as I love him, thought written language was going to make everyone into morons. Today people say that about smart phones and social media, and 20 years from now they will say it again about what ever great advancement is sweeping the world.
Unfortunately, people are super paranoid and hate new things.
But I believe it's a good advancement (if I get you correctly) because I can imagine means of communication back then
And just imagine the possibility of hearing my opinion one day if social media wasn't created.

Yeah you did, I think people throw a lot of dumb stuff up on social media, like filming their own crimes as an obvious example, but I don't think that's an issue with social media its self. Anything that brings people closer together is a good thing in my book.

Social media has been an excellent tool for most folks if we efficiently use it for our benefit.
On the other hand, it has caused harm to some set of people. For instance, it has now become a norm to flaunt nudity or immoral act on social media, and a young person just exploring the space stumbled upon such and polluted his mind.
You can say we can be more careful of what we click on, but what about the ones we stumbled upon unexpectedly?
The abuse we give to it on our end cannot be overemphasized. Like the Instagram you mentioned, I'm guilty of this too, I've noticed that it drives away my attention, so I made it a habit to open it occasionally.
I believe if we can discipline and control ourselves, the good impact it will have on us will be more than the opposing side.
That's allot of sense you made there, and I've stumbled on adult content while I was showing my younger siblings some status updates and we were like... Wohhh
But after then I mind the pages I follow and the content we view together also 😁😁, it's awesome to have you around
