In the order of living things, Humans have been said to dominate every other living thing that has ever existed. This wasn’t a right, inheritance or privilege. It’s just the order of things and the cycle of life. In the jungle we have predators, and prey. You would never find a lion being sentimental when it catches its prey and just wants to let it live because it looks cute. It’s probably because its intelligence would not permit it to do so, and that is why we humans are unique and would think things through before concluding on a decision. The decisions we make tend to be affected by different things and belief systems. You find one person loving animals so much and they would even give their lives to protecting them, and you find another person seeing animals as mere meat, and you find those who don’t care what happens.
The lover of animals would probably see the remaining two as evil not because they actually are, but because both their belief systems do not align and might never even align. The one who sees animals as meat would obviously see the animal lover as stupid, and the last of them, does not care what happens to animals at all. That’s just the thing with humans, we are so unique that we would do anything for the world to see things from our perspective because once that happens it can easily change the narrative of what is good and bad. Belief is something so strong that if emotions are attached to it, it could become a weapon that can be used to fulfil one's desires.
So if you ask me if I see scientists using animals as experiments for something that would benefit humans, the question I would ask is; if they do not use animals to test it, who then should be used? This is not because I have heel intentions against the animals, it’s simply because I care more for the human race and its advancement. Do you think if animals are told that the only way for them to survive is to turn on humans they will be sympathetic about it? I guess it’s safe to say that humans are the only species intelligent enough to think about the survival of others, and it is one of the things that makes us intelligent.
In a world where humans must survive, I would prefer the loss of an animal to that of a human anytime anyday and this does not make me wicked, it’s what I would do if I needed to choose between my family and a stranger. If animals hadn’t been used for experiments in the past, there would be no way we would have evolved to the point we are right now. Humanity would have continued to be dying of simple illnesses that now have a cure, even these animals would also have been dying from unknown illnesses but thanks to these experiments that enabled scientists to help humanity and were even able to modify some for animals as well.
