Greetings!
When I was a little younger, I used to derive maximum joy from asking people controversial questions that would lead to arguments. One of those questions was in regard to killing in war, asking whether the soldiers who embark on those wars will make it to heaven or not, with respect to the days of old as we read in the Bible. Some justified the killings by those soldiers as a normal thing, not a sin, and believed they would make it to heaven, while others said that as long as they took a man's life and didn’t repent, there was no heaven for them.
I decided to start this article with this religious example, which, even when we remove the religious attachment, highlights the stance the world tends to take. So, if a war breaks out today, should I not take up a gun and shoot my enemy—which is considered a terrible act—to save myself, or should I surrender and let my enemies massacre me? Of course, you should know the answer I'm going to take: yes, I would kill to defend myself and my loved ones, even though killing is labeled as an offense.
Moreover, what is considered terrible to some people, a nation, or a belief system could be considered very fair to others. This is why, even today, many places are comfortable with the idea of killing a sick, dying person around them to eat as meat, in order not to allow it to waste or decay, while in other places, it's a big taboo. Also, killing humans nowadays has become a very common thing; people find it so easy that when you tell some of these individuals to take a life to save another soul, they don’t think twice about it.
I'm not saying I can do all this without thinking; there’s a limit to the terrible things I would do to remedy a crumbling situation but.....(get read on🤔)
But truthfully, my prayer is to never let things get so out of hand that I’m forced into a situation where I have to do things I frown upon to save a situation, because at that point, I would do it and later seek forgiveness to clear my conscience. I know it’s funny mentioning forgiveness in this context, but that's the truth because I'm a religious person and believe that the end of one's life matters a lot. In a nutshell, I don't want to end up in hell because of such an act. So yes, I would beg for forgiveness; after all, there are people who have committed mightier sins and were accepted by God.
The only big problem I would experience after partaking in a terrible act is the unsettledness of my heart. Yes, my mind wouldn’t find it easy to let go; it would torment me for a long time, but I would bear it in the remaining days I have left to spend on earth.
Thanks for reading.
This situation is dicey but if I need to save myself then I would not hesitate at all
True, it depends.
The situation I am in, the options available to me, and the people who are involved would be determinants for what decision that I would take.
Its a tough one indeed because few for the world 🌎 that will move on with their lives when others died for them. I don’t think God will grant such forgiveness. Haha 😂
Life is so tough as we have seen. Everyone should work towards saving themselves. That is what is justifiable. Americans lots many heroes 🦸♂️, but they are still facing troubles in politics up until today.
Cheers 🥂 to the new month Kingsley 😇
Well in this case anything that has to do with life must be taken seriously, but you have to know that the is no sin bigger than God to forgive, its just to free your mind and move on with life
The greatest prayer is to never find ourselves in a situation whereby we will have to do things that are against our beliefs just for the sake of survival, life can be very cruel sometimes, forcing us to make decisions we are not happy with.
War is waged by the old people who don't even fight. The young die on the battlefield. The massacres of war leaves nobody unscathed. When you are actually in that situation, your moral compass won't listen to any reason. Shoot to kill, kill to survive.
