So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the third topic for this week which is “THE HATE YOU GET”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “A FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community sharing with us their thoughts on access to the internet being made a fundamental human right. Considering how important it is today and how many of us rely on it for our daily living, restricting internet access to anyone could have devastating effects.

We got to see just how much such a declaration could affect everyone. There were those who were in favor of the idea and some others were against it, citing it as it could only mean nothing but trouble, especially to the younger generation. It was indeed an enlightening topic.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w151e2 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

This author told us that everyone has the right to use the internet however they see fit as long as it doesn’t step on the rights of others. Whatever people wanna do on the internet, it should be allowed because it’s their business. Only when what they do is illegal or it places the lives or mental health of others at risk, only then can restricting the internet be justified.

For this author, she agrees that access to the internet should be considered a fundamental human right. In this day and age, living with the internet can be the same as living without freedom, because the internet presents one with so many opportunities. The internet is a necessity for everyone.

INTERNET: PRIVATE SERVICE OR HUMAN RIGHT? @aaalviarez

For this author, he believes that the internet should only be provided according to one’s capabilities and needs at any given time. Taking children for instance, early access to the internet can never bode well and if care is not taken, they could be scarred in ways that would never be reversed. According to him, a world with access to the internet as a human right would be dangerous.

How far can you go before you decide to take action? Or would you simply take action for every act committed against you.”
