So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week which is “A LITTLE HISTORY”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “VOLUNTEERING AND COMMUNITY WORK”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about the volunteering acts that they have been involved in at one time or the other. For some, it was a regular occurrence, while for others, it was something that was only done once in a while.

We got to see the reasons behind such acts and why people decided to volunteer. For many, it’s the feeling of putting a smile on the face of others that makes it all worth it. Many live for that moment, and for that reason, they will never stop being selfless.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w152e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

PROOF OF SINCERITY: I HAVE NEVER DONE VOLUNTEER WORK by @shiftrox

This author told us that volunteering wasn't something that he had a lot of experience with. While he liked to help people, he also preferred to do it all on his own terms and in a way that would be easy for him. No one should be forced to volunteer because once it’s not from the heart, the purpose will be defeated.

THE POWER OF SILENT KINDNESS by @aiuna

For this author, she’s very much used to helping others. She grew up in such an environment and it’s a tradition that she has adopted even as an adult. She plans to pass the act onto her daughter as well. Being kind and helpful is a trait that one will always reap the dividends when the time is right.

FINDING MEANING THROUGH SERVICE @nhaji01

For this author, she loves to volunteer, it’s something that she enjoys doing a lot. The last time she did this was last December when she and her colleagues did health screening for lecturers in higher institutions. She loves to give back and the smiles she places on the faces of those she helps always makes it worth the effort.
