Honestly, it is a disappointment on the one hand, and a success on the other.
For the former, it is a disappointment because you know how much time and effort you dedicated for the tutorial, and you also know how much you expected from them. I also believe you already envisaged how they'll do well on Hive when they come on board. However, this dream was cut short because they didn't meet up with the final task.
On the other hand, it is a success because you have been able to plan the path to follow, since that was example 1. You now have a clearer path towards what you'll work on to improve on the project.
Also, for the fact that you were able to discontinue them for not meeting up with the task, also shows success. It is success because you were not willing to jeopardise the importance of seriousness over "abeg".

For reapplying. Yes they have the chance to reapply but they would have to redo all tests given and show evidence of seriousness and if not, they would be removed the second time until they are really serious with Hive.
We told them if they really want to be on Hive, they would reapply this September.

Exactly! I cannot be introducing someone to Hive and yet I would be pursuing the person up and down to write an intro post or even engage on Hive.
I cannot create an account for anybody and they end up plagiarising on Hive.
I cannot create an account for someone and yet they don't know how to navigate through Hive, don't know what to do after getting their keys or importance of communities.
It's high time they know it before they get on Hive. It may be tough for them but it would ensure a smoother process for them.
It would make sure they have the right mindset they need to strive on Hive and make be a better Hivean that they can ever be.

The plagiarism aspect is one that really hurts so bad. But, we just have to move on with life.
It has also birthed a wonderful initiative that will be beneficial to both you and the newbie. At least he or she will know what they are expecting, and they will easily flow in the community.
I think I'd have to do something similar if someone tells me he is interested. So that me I no go dey waste my time unnecessarily also.

Yeah that's true, it's a first trial and for me that was a huge success. The fact that some of them were dropped out doesn't really mean they are not serious, I find some of the tutorials hard not to talk of them that are just seeing it for the first time.
But like you said, it's a really good thing they kept to the standards of the program and did not compromise in any way.

Yes, it might be basic to us but not to someone that knows little or nothing about Hive 😞. I can imagine how hard it might have been for them, I'm sure I won't have made it to oo because I know how I started 🙂.
