A few days ago, driving to Orunia from the Lower Town, I turned into Olszyńska Street, where the Olszynka Manor is located. A beautiful pastel sunset on the Motława River encouraged me, despite the frost, to take a short walk.
A lot of information about this monument can be found on the Internet. It was built in a classicist style, as evidenced by the wooden stucco of the porch and frescoes on the walls.
The manor was built for the wealthy merchant Neufeld in 1802. There was a park with a pond next to the manor. Today, part of it is occupied by plots. 200 ha of land belonged to the manor, 70 cows, 13 horses and pigs were bred here. Apart from the remains of the stable that collapsed 16 years ago, there is also an old coach house.
After the war, flats in the building were separated and most of the frescoes decorating the walls were painted over. After the last tenants had moved out, the city tried to sell the building for PLN 2.6 million. As there were no merchants, the mansion stayed in 2013. handed over for 50 years to Pentecostals who started to renovate it. If possible, the building regains its former glory under the watchful eye of the conservator of monuments.
I wish a similar future to the manor house on the Polish Hook...
The third photo shows the frozen Motława River and the buildings on the other bank of the Motława River, visible from the manor house.
