Today's topic takes me back to the times when I worked at a publishing house.

I remember that my boss was a colonel who had participated in World War II and had a very strict character and practices.

On another occasion, I think I mentioned something about this. This man, of Spanish nationality, would deduct the time we spent in the bathroom because he said that shouldn't be paid, that it wasn't part of the salary.

That's how strict this man was.

What I can say is that I learned many favorable work practices from him, including those that helped me learn to be flexible, precisely because I had to go through so many rigid situations with this man and so many rigid situations in other types of work.

Because I also worked with American bosses who were very organized, strict, and demanding with their things. Among what they required was extreme punctuality.

And if you arrived one minute late because they measured the time with a card that was marked on a clock when entering the office, well, they would simply deduct that money at the end of your work, at the time of paying your salary.

Currently, I can say that in relation to the work I do, which is content creation, I am a very flexible person because precisely this type of work doesn't have a set schedule.

I can start working whenever I want or stop working on the days I want.

But precisely because of the flexible nature of this type of activity, it requires me to stay more focused because if I don't produce content, I don't generate dividends, I don't generate income.

So, I always have this pressure with me. It's something to keep in mind.

Even though I have a daily routine that consists of waking up, having breakfast, and immediately sitting down at the computer to create my content.

And I have a rule to spend at least two hours creating content before I can dedicate myself to all the activities I enjoy.

Today, for example, I told a friend a while ago that today I have to make two or three publications, and it's not something I really enjoy because it requires a lot of time and focus.

And currently, I am not receiving the rewards I expect for the content I am creating, not only here but on different social media platforms.

I can tell you that after I spend those two hours, I spend another two or three hours more dedicated to entertainment and leisure activities.

And then I take a break of about half an hour watching TV, going for a walk, or maybe preparing a meal that I like.

This allows me to distract myself a bit and get out of the routine and be flexible regarding the type of work I am doing.

The truth is, I would prefer that the type of work I do allowed me to have much more free time.

My goal and objective are to achieve passive income so that in this way, I can publish whenever I want and not be forced to publish content every day as has been happening for some time.

Because for reasons of survival and needing that reward, that income that is vital to pay my bills day by day and put food on my table, I have to force myself to do it.

But I would like it not to be that way, but to be able to publish simply when I feel like it.

I think the content I would create would be of superior quality and, above all, I could dedicate myself to visiting other publications that interest me so much from people who create very interesting content and be able to interact with them as I would like.

But I think these are things added to each person's life and that we cannot escape and must adapt to.

Muchas veces venden la flexibilidad de trabajo (libertad/freelance) como la gran maravilla del mundo, pero eso requiere mayor compromiso de nuestra parte. No está detrás ese tirano que te monitorea y te mantiene produciendo, tienes que serlo tu mismo.

Imagino que ese trabajo en donde te descontaban lo del baño fue hace mucho tiempo, ahora mismo por suerte, eso sería denunciable. Me haces recordar cuando la gente mayor dice que antes las personas no se quejaban tanto, pero es que no tenían de otra, ser explotado nunca me parecerá justificable. Lamento que hayas pasado por eso, aunque sé que lo acotas por ver el lado positivo y lo bueno que has aprendido de esa experiencia, pero igual, lo lamento.

Mucho éxito, espero que el panorama mejore porque es una lástima no disfrutar con eso a lo que hay que dedicar tanto tiempo para sobrevivir. Nos pasa a todos, pero tal como acotas al comienzo, son nuestras acciones, las que generan un cambio.

Si, eso fue ya hace mucho tiempo, ese jefecito (el señor Lisbona, que en paz descanse , supongo que ya no esta vivo, pero yo lo recuerdo con mucho cariño para que tu veas) me educo en muchas cosas, aprendí a como manejar el personal y como llevar distintas situaciones, recuerdo que por esos días yo era el encargado de hacer la nomina y controlar a quien se le daba o no prestamos en el personal, por lo que era muy querido por unos y odiado por otros jaja.

Son etapas de la etapa, a unos nos toca en modo extremo y a otros en modo fácil. No me quejo de lo que me ha tocado, pero si de la duración de lo que me ha tocado, que como podrás suponer, en algunos casos quiero que sea muy duradero y en otros muy corto.

Con lo que dices de un cambio...si alguien lleva haciendo cambios en su vida soy yo, desde hace 35 años, así que...es lo que hay.

Your work environment really shaped you, I worked in a company in Nigeria as we which makes me discipline myself and work with time, it is very strict here in my country especially when you are working in a private sector.
