I don't want to be among the "New year, new resolutions" type as it doesn't seem to favour me or somehow I always go back to my usual routine and forget I had some resolutions to pursue. Because of this, since late last year, I've been trying to stop some things, start something new and improve better on what I've been doing well.
This way, it isn't a resolution for year 2025 but a continuation to make this year better and greater. It hasn't been easy but with the few practices I've had, I believe it will get easier this year especially with the excitement that comes with celebrating a new year and having plans. Before all of these and while I'm at it, I make sure to put God first.
Last year had me too busy that I gave few time to my self growth especially in the aspect of learning to be a better version of myself. Although, close to the end of the year, I've been educating myself on things needs to be done for me to be my own best version and a lot of them are going to be something new that I'll start.
To start something new, there are old habits I have to stop or limit for something new to come in and be a part of me. So I'll start by sharing things I'll want to stop and then share my plans to start something new and things to improve on.
I want to stop spending too much of my time on phone and pc (online & watching movies) and I've learnt a good hack to go about that, hopefully, I'll keep at it to make a steady routine out of it. I want to stop money spending unnecessarily as I've got to face life more differently starting from this year filled with more responsibilities.
I want to stop taking too much of whatever I take into my stomach especially sugar, junks and carbonated drinks. If I find alternatives, I want to get rid of them totally and I'm on a search for what works best. This is promised to make me feel and look better over time and it's one of my goal for the year to not just want to get fat but get healthier inside out with good hygiene.
For the things I want to start, the first on the list is "Reading books. I was once a bookworm who'd make a friend just to get a new book I saw them reading, I don't know how that habit went away but it's part of my decisions to bring it back but this time, focusing on very specific books that will help me mentally, emotionally, financially and even vocally. It's a habit I want to start over.
I want to also build a good and well connected self discipline in some things I can't share here, it's a part of what will make me a better version of myself that I can't overlook. I want it to be that by the end of this year, I have more tasks to give myself because I have seen good improvement from the ones I've stopped and I'm been doing.
One thing to improve on will be in being consistent with the things I've been doing well like growing my Hive account, eating well and on time, sleeping more and appreciating myself with what I love to do and like to get for myself sometimes. To improve is much easier than to stop and start but I want to put all these at same level and see only what I stand to gain at the end.

Hmm, a lot of people are fond of setting new goals every new year without completing the old ones. I am also a victim, no wonder, I have a lot unachieved.
Spending time online is so addictive, I have been battling with that habit for sometime and and still not making progress. If we can be disciplined enough to reduce the time we spend online doing unproductive things, I am sure we will have enough time to build ourselves and become what we want.
You're right, it's not easy to do but we would love our better self when we try to do it
We all want to be the better version of ourselves and that's natural. I think that it's hard for you to reduce the time from watching movies and dramas is indeed difficult for you in my opinion.
Reading book is good habit and as a book lover, I think you also need to develop the habit also.
Haha of course, it will be hard but it's what I have to try 😌
I'll develop it somehow, thanks for stopping by Intishar

Yeah, it's really nice. More strength to us to get these things done.
