Some thoughts regarding the "@hivewatchers"

in Hive Learners6 months ago (edited)

Since I was no longer satisfied with Twitter/X, I looked for a new community and found hive. I don't know much about the underlying technical background like blockchain, but I think the concept of everything I know so far is very interesting.

So I started my own little community here and started posting.

After a few days I received a few messages under my posts (I won't link them here as they are nsfw).

An account called @hivewatchers left the following message:

Hello.
We would appreciate it if you could avoid copying and pasting or cross-posting content from external sources (full or partial texts, video links, art, etc.).
Thank you.

If you believe this comment is in error, please contact us in #appeals in Discord.

First of all, this is simply a "false positive". Yes, I did use an image from another artist, but I gave clear credit to the original artist, including a link right below the image. I also added value by offering my own upscaled version of the original image, so it's clearly not just a copy&paste.

Then I don't think it's very professional to force someone to join a platform like discord. I don't have an account there and didn't want to create one. Why not solve problems like this in a place where people are not forced to create an account?

The next day, today, I decided to join their discord server to explain that my posts weren't copy&paste.
First I was forced to verify my discord account with my email address and then with my phone number! As someone who likes to remain anonymous, this is terrible, but I did it anyway. However, it looks like the link they gave me isn't even valid (it's expired).

So all in all:

  • I was happy to find a new platform to share my hobby.
  • Then @hivewatchers appear and falsely claim that I am copying and pasting from others.
  • They force me to join a platform that invades my privacy.
  • Then I find out I can't even join because the link has expired.
  • They don't reply or contact me here.

This is by far the most disappointing "service" I have ever expired.

Disapointed

I know that hive need this kind of service, but I really hope that the people behind @hivewatchers get a bit more professional about how they handle things. At least put an appeal on your website or offer an email address, not everyone wants to join a shitty platform like discord.

But seriously, what I am supposed to do now?

Thanks for reading and regards,

MissMisty ;)
