Cada mañana paso frente a Arcanos Lunch, una venta de empanadas ubicada en San Antonio de los Altos, Miranda, Venezuela.
Siempre los veo con mucha gente aglomerada, lo que me da la impresión de que son buenas, esa dice mi papá que es la mejor referencia para saber si vale la degustación. Y no se equivocó.

Un día ya no era solo un puesto, tipo kiosco, sino también un restaurante con mesitas y todo. Muy minimalista. Con detalles venezolanos. Lleno de gente obviamente jajaja
Y ya no aguantaba las ganas, hasta que Neptalí dijo: vamos por empanadas.

Así llegamos a Arcanos Lunch, ansiosos por probar las empanadas. Primero ubicamos un puesto para estacionar y como el lugar es pequeño, pues no había, pero el parquero, de nombre Chanel, nos dijo déjenlo ahí y listo.
En el restaurante había que esperar por una mesa... Recuerdan que les dije que siempre había gente; así que nos fuimos al lado, al kiosco. Está a la orilla de la calle en el sector La Gonzalera, vía La Morita, y puedes ver la variedad del menú en la vidriera.
So we arrived at Arcanos Lunch, anxious to try the empanadas. First we found a parking spot and as the place is small, there was none, but the parking attendant, named Chanel, told us to leave it there and that was it.
At the restaurant we had to wait for a table.... Remember I told you that there were always people; so we went next door to the kiosk. It is on the side of the road in the La Gonzalera sector, via La Morita, and you can see the variety of the menu in the window.
Hay desde pabellón, camarones al ajillo, cazón, champiñones con mozzarella, asado con queso, mechada con queso amarillo, frutos del mar, pollo, hasta el tradicional queso.
Atienden súper rápido; primero pides tu orden y cancelas. Los precios van desde $2,3 hasta $3 por empanada. Luego las sirven en unas bolsitas para llevar que ya están identificadas con el relleno que seleccionaste. Lo que me pareció fabuloso porque siempre tengo que adivinar cuáles son las de queso porque ése es el relleno favorito de mi hijo.
There is everything from pabellon, garlic shrimp, dogfish, mushrooms with mozzarella, roast with cheese, mechada with yellow cheese, seafood, chicken, to the traditional cheese.
They serve super fast; first you ask for your order and cancel it. Prices range from $2.3 to $3 per empanada. Then they serve them in little bags to take away that are already identified with the filling you selected. Which I thought was great because I always have to guess which ones are the cheese ones because that's my son's favorite filling.
Son buenas, buenísimas... Probé la de champiñones con mozzarella y frutos del mar, pero comí mechada con queso amarillo y camarones al ajillo. De verdad, deliciosas.
Al final nos sentamos a comer en las mesitas del restaurante porque cuando entregaron nuestro pedido había una mesa libre, así que comimos relajados y disfrutamos de una mañana soleada y acogedora.
La gente de Arcanos es muy amable, encantadora diría yo, y me permitieron capturar las imágenes que muestro en el video.
Espero que se les abra el apetito. Las empanadas son un plato muy popular en Venezuela y se comen a la hora que mejor te parezca.
Se elabora una mezcla con harina de maíz, sal y azúcar al gusto. Se extiende la masa en forma de círculo y se le incorpora el relleno de su elección. Se dobla a la mitad y se corta con una ollita jajaja podría ser, dependiendo del lugar, lo importante es que salga una media luna que luego se debe freír en aceite caliente.
Puedes acompañarlas con salsas y bebidas al gusto. En Arcanos Lunch también venden café, papelón con limón, entre otros y trabajan todos los días de 7:30 am a 9:00 pm.
El sabor de la empanada está en el relleno pero el secreto en la masa.

They are good, very good... I tried the one with mushrooms, mozzarella and seafood, but I also had mechada with yellow cheese and garlic shrimp. Really delicious.
At the end we sat down to eat at the little tables in the restaurant because when they delivered our order there was a free table, so we ate relaxed and enjoyed a sunny and cozy morning.
The people at Arcanos are very nice, charming I would say, and they allowed me to capture the images I show in the video.
