Hello everyone .Hope everyone is well.
So this is my first post on the Hive Learners community. And I am not your verified member. But still I am writing this post because this content is fatally related to the current situation in my country. This debate is particularly relevant in the current situation of Bangladesh. Originally I was posting about one of my art. But I sat down to write this post after leaving the post about art in the hope of this topic.
My country is Bangladesh. More or less everyone knows the current situation of our country. The students brought new freedom by overthrowing the fascism government of our country for 15 years. This is the second freedom of our country.
Our country was first made independent in 1971. The liberation war lasted for about nine months and resulted in the surrender of Pakistani forces on 16 December 1971. After that Bangladesh was established as an independent and sovereign state.
Even before 1971, Bengalis have struggled with various movements such as: language movement of 1952, mass movement of 1969 and mass uprising of 1979 and many more but my knowledge is limited to this.
In many countries around the world, especially in our Bangladesh, history textbooks briefly mention the achievements and struggles of important people, but lack depth and breadth. Not only the stories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's struggle and leadership for freedom are given special prominence in our education system, but many other heroes played important roles in our liberation war who often remain in the shadows.
Even when we did engineering one of our subjects was history of Bangladesh. Where we only read the stories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's struggle and leadership for freedom.
Efforts have been made to show and convince us that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is undoubtedly the great leader of our freedom struggle in the broad stories and perspectives of the liberation war. But many more freedom fighters sacrificed their lives before and after the war for freedom.
Their contribution is equally important. How many people do we know about their names and history? Quite a few. But where did the rest go?
But the contribution of these great leaders has remained relatively neglected in our educational system and historical discourse. As a result, our students do not get to know the full contribution of all the heroes who fought for their nation and their history. As a result, in my opinion, the sense of national responsibility and the concept of ethnic unity is not being given any opportunity to fully develop in the new generation.
History lessons are not only about the events and facts of the past, but also guide us in the future. It is important to know the correct history along with reading Kitnu history. Currently, Bangladesh is going through various political and social challenges. A deep knowledge of our historical background is crucial to properly understand questions of political unrest, the practice of democracy, and human rights.
The political situation during the liberation war of 1971 and the subsequent events show how much of the ideals and goals that were set for independence have been preserved in the present day.
Unless our students have a detailed and accurate knowledge of history, they cannot be informed about the real struggles, achievements and failures of their nation. If we teach history based only on certain events or individuals, our future generations will grow up with only a narrow concept, which will stand in the way of national progress and unity.
Hence, history should be included more broadly in our education system. We should look at history not just for passing exams, but as part of education to inculcate responsibility towards country, patriotism, and historical accuracy in our future citizens.
Look, what I am saying here is my personal opinion because I think that history lesson is an important educational aspect of the present century because in the context of present day Bangladesh, not only Bangabandhu, but all the great leaders' struggles and contributions, we create a fair and proper history education environment. can do This broad reading of history will guide our society in a more vigilant and correct direction in the future. So far, we need to know about those who have stood by our country as friends, and who are harming the country by turning into enemies as our friends. A citizen of a country should know about his country's past because it helps him to know his roots.
It will give you courage to fight. Consider the issue of our new freedom, this freedom has brought? Student society of our country. Those who were considered lazy, cowards, but they allowed themselves to get their chests in front of the gun. In 1971, 1952, the students of our country sacrificed their lives for the country. That history has repeated itself in 2024. History is not wrong unless someone wants to hide it.
