There are a lot of things I believe are important in this world but the one that surpasses all for me is leaving your mark. Leaving your mark in the sense that, everywhere you go, make sure to leave something that will change the lives of others in a good way such that, you would be remembered all the time.
One thing about me is, I live for impact. I love to see the lives of others being better because of an act of service from me. I love to know that some people somewhere are happy because I was able to do this and that for them. Sometimes people think volunteering is a tough job but to me, it’s the essence of living. What is a life where everyone someway somehow is affected negatively by what you do? This isn’t the kind of life that one should live.
Just this afternoon, I was looking through some pictures of mine with a friend and I couldn’t help but smile and feel proud of the number of faces I been able to brighten within these few years. For as long as I can remember, I have been volunteering for every activity I know I can help with. Is it educating and inspiring school children, mentoring the youth, educating adults in a specific field or helping run some medical checkups in an underserved community. Just know I’ll be there once I know about it.
The main reason why I do this is because I get so much joy and satisfaction from just knowing that I have been able to make someone’s life better with the little that I know. If I remember right, the last time I volunteered was the ending of last year. There was an impromptu event at my work place and they needed people to step in to help. The whole idea was to run some tests and do some general health screening for the lecturers in my institution. I hopped on this because I believed it was a good call. Our lecturers are always running up and down for us and sometimes they end up having little to no time for their health.
At the event, I got to meet so many lecturers for all our sister institutions. Everyone came along with their family to run these tests and also have fun as the event was more like a games and check up something. It was nice to see smiles on the faces of these people and their families because in way, the event made them feel their work wasn’t all about giving and not getting back. They were made to feel that they also mattered and their health was also important. Even after the whole event, I still had people coming in to my office days later to get themselves and their kids tested. And the amount of thank you’s I received was more than enough to last me a lifetime.
At the end of the week, I was more than exhausted but this is what we do for a living. We give back the little we have so that we can see the smiles on the faces of others. Life is already tough for people, so the little way you can brighten up their day would go a long way to make them feel much better.
all images belong to me.

Helping others should be a priority, and it gives me a unique feeling to make a positive difference in someone's life.
That’s very true. Keep giving back!🤝
This is so filling to read. I haven't done so much that I would categorically classify as volunteering. I mean, in the way that people look at it(that's from being out there and doing the 'big' things).
But, in my own ways, I look out for and try to make the lives of people around me easier. I step in when I see a need, and it's always good.
It’s not always about the big things. Even the small things do matter, if you ask me they even matter the most.
Keep helping in your own little way. May God bless you.❤️
It's always a joyful and satisfying when we indulge in voluntary service, and I'm pleased to see you also think so.
Helping lectures check their health status is a great idea, most of them are so overwhelmed with work that they hardly have time to indulge in routine checkup.
Most of the are also wicked, let’s not forget that.😂😂
But we do what we do because we love to give back.
What a powerful phrase. It reflects incredible awareness and generosity. It's so easy to get lost in our own lives and forget to look around. But you show that true happiness lies in serving and making a difference in the lives of others. I really admire your dedication and how much you give of yourself in every action.
This is what I live for and so I do it with no hassle. I try to always give my best.
Thanks for passing by.❤️
This was a really inspiring read. It’s easy to get caught up in personal goals, but the way you prioritize impact over everything else is admirable. Volunteering isn’t just about big gestures—it’s about showing up, like you did for that health screening.
Keep doing what you’re doing—it’s rare to see someone so committed to service!
I try my best to give back in my own little way. It’s the best I can do.
Thanks for passing by❤️
