I remember the days my dad used to tell me how they had to suffer just to get some learning materials to study in school. All these stories came about because he was scolding us when we got lazy with our studies and to some extent, it made my understand the struggles of our parents and forefathers in the olden days, all in their pursuit of knowledge.
Today, we call ourselves the technological generation because we have access to so much information at just a tap. With a smart device and mobile data, we could pull up any information from any part of the world in just a second. This is a big win for we the people of this generation because this development has made things easier for us in so many ways. We no longer need to walk miles just to get knowledge for someone far away or have to sit for hours scanning through millions of pages for just a piece of information.
Now, everything has been digitalised in almost every aspect of life from our learning materials, to sample questions, videos and many more. Gaining knowledge has been made easier for us and this is actually a huge opportunity for all of us to tap into. But, how many of us make use of this opportunity?
On the flip side, as much as it’s fun to have access to knowledge easily , it also has its downsides. As they say, the less you know the better. In the modern world, some of us tend to know more than we should which sometimes tends to be bad for us in many ways. For example, little kids with mobile phones have access to all kinds of information. Today, even below 15 know whatever is happening on social media be it good or bad and some of these information is not even meant for their age group. Now, these kids know more than they should. I understand that there’s no limit to knowledge but some things are just not meant for kids below some ages and even adults sometimes. But with everything comes a price and it’s up to us to protect our kids or let them pay the price.
Also, having access to knowledge easily and freely has made most of the youth lazy. For example, I handled some students who were taking a course in biochemistry some months back. As part of their study, they were required to have lab sessions with us after which they were required to answer some questions in their lab manuals.
With the lab manuals, we had a summary of everything we thought inside which would guide them to answer the post lab questions. These students have been so reliant on AI they didn’t even know they answers were in the manuals. They later went to get answers from AI which were wrong and later came to complain when they were marked down. It was then we told them all the answers were in the manual and by then, it was too late. This is what our generation has come to today. We all want the easy way out but until when will this change?
I’m not surprised when I meet people who believe that when you struggle for knowledge, you value it more than when it’s accessible to you all the time. This is actually the situation of most people of today. We have little value for knowledge because it’s always accessible and our approach towards stuff is totally different from the people of the olden days. This is where you see the differences. Hopefully, we would start to value the opportunity we have been given more now.

Even though I don't agree with this ideology, I can't help but say I understand your opinion, but feel like same laziness affects but generation and only the curious ones that are willing to learn thrive then too.
Indeed, only the curious ones willing to learn thrive, but how many of us today are curious enough?
I'm curious o, but on topics that interest me.

It will always be an ongoing debate between the pros and cons of modern technology.
Getting any information has become so easy that laziness has creeped into our lives.
You’re right. But we hope for the best.
