I don't think there's a country with a perfect government. There's always an aspect that isn't looked into properly before making one law or another. This week in the hive learners community, we are discussing banned and unban things in our various countries. Here in Nigeria, my country, without thinking deeper into what I would love to lift a ban on and allow people to use it freely if I had the power, is cryptocurrency.

In my country, there are long lists of banned items, and the funny thing is that our government approaches this wrongly; they will leave the ones that are supposed to be banned and keep banning things that will make the country better. Imagine banning foreign rice importation as if we have the capacity to produce enough quantities for the masses. Some of the government decisions have only made us keep suffering. Truth be told, we are a blessed country with natural resources that could make society live better, but our government has been the greatest challenge we have. It's all about embezzling money, looting from any given opportunity, and getting ridiculous loans every now and then. The cycle keeps rotating, making the economy even worse than it was. No wonder every time, DIC and Harry are leaving the country at any available opportunity, and I wouldn't blame anyone who is in quest for a greener pasture.
Imagine banning cryptocurrencies that made a lot of youth self-employed? Because of their selfish reasons. The rate of unemployment in the country is nothing to write home about, so when an opportunity like crypto came, I expected our government to embrace it as it would lower the unemployment rate amongst our youth and promote our economy, but no, the reverse was the case. Many people then, including my cousin, lost their money gotten through crypto in the bank as they frozen his account. For some people, crypto was their only source of income, but our government put an end to it, and people's money was on hold. There were no transactions of any kind until months later, when we found our way again through P2P.
The world is envolving, and I would love to see when I can buy food stuff with crypto. I would love to witness that government that would say yes to crypto and get it legalised. If this is done someday, then I will have positive hope in the economy of my country again.
One of the reasons why the majority of our youth haven't gotten into stealing and other evils is because of this same crypto, which they engaged in, so lifting a ban on crypto would be something great for my country, and that is something I will do if I have the power.
The one thing I would ban with immediate effect is cigarettes. Banning cigarettes is good because of the health challenges it causes smokers. How can people be inhaling smoke into their system? Putting their lungs and livers at risk is disheartening, and it's unfortunate that the government of my country hasn't seen the reason to ban this item. There are other useless things that are allowed in my country and I really wish to have this power to ban and unban things accordingly.
All in all, I believe that if crypto is legalised, it will give society more opportunity to make wealth and also promote the disruption of the economy caused by inflation and mismanagement of funds.
This is my response to the #hivelearners contest on the topic titled "Un-ban".
Banning crypto currency according to them was because of the fraudulent activities by the so called yahoo boys and girls since it was through crypto they defraud people. But then, even as much as that reason was reasonable, it wasn't enough to banned crypto.
Crypto in itself is decentralized and that was their major challenge if you ask me. The government didn't like the fact that they couldn't control crypto so the worst they could do was banned it. But then, no matter how they try they can never make crypto go on extinct because it is here to stay, hehe.
Yea, I get you babe...they want something they could control unfortunately crypto is out of it because of its decentralised nature
With how far crypto have gone, I don't think to they can do something that could affect its users much
Thanks for the insight my darling 😍
That's right, they are limited to having influence to crypto, the worst they can do is banning it.
It was my pleasure stopping by my amiable ambassador ☺️
Their bans only limit the adoption rate and it's perspective. Unbanning of such important tool can improve Nigerian economy
You are right,.
. will it get better in the future? Finger crossed
I can see that everyones heart aches with this crypto ban. They are not happy way we are not disturbing them for job and down.
Hahaha 😂😂🤣
Babe, this is the truth oo 😂
wickedness
You are absolutely right, if crypto-currency opened up in the country, then people got busy with it and the evil deeds got.reduced.Cryptocurrency should not be banned it provides employment to many people.I will pray that the ban on cryptocurrency is lifted in your country.
Thank you for this...it provides more opportunities to people and I wonder why our government are so adamant of it..I hope it gets better
Thank you for visiting
One day it will definitely be better
@nkemakonam89 your welcome
Governments are afraid of crypto and they won't allow it because in this case, people will fully control their assets and that means the government will lose control of people's assets as well as influence.
I also love to ban cigarettes if I have the power. I don't see any benefit of it. It's dangerous for our health.

Yea, that decentralised nature of crypto is their problems and they should deal with it, haha 😆😂😂

A ban on crypto is very difficult. Thank goodness for P2P. As you mentioned, it helped the economy and prevented youth from being wayward.
I wonder what would happen if cigarette was banned? Of course - similar to crypto people would find a way around the ban. However at least, it would reduce users.
Yea, people will always find a way around doing things but like you said, the users will be reduced with a ban of cigarette and as for crypto, I hope the government doesn't come again p2p as well
Lol
I believe Nigeria was one of the biggest embracer of Hive so it was just sad to know that your government was banning crypto even if it was helping many people. Thankfully, you did some ways to use them. I only hope that they do not find ways to also ban that.
I also agree on banning cigarettes as it can cause a lot of disease not only to the smoker but also the people who would breathe the smoke.
You are right, I hope they won't baby this way out we found now...fingers crossed but I can only remain positive
Thanks for reading
Hope they just lift the ban overall so people do not need to do this workarounds and probably to be the next location for hivefest.
You've said it all, our government keep touching things that ought not to be touched at all, like crypto... And they leave the things that ought to be touched and changed like smoking of cigarettes.
I just hope they get to understand the positive side of crypto soon.
We can only be hopeful
The significance of crypto is just enormous that can't be easily overemphasized. I know numerous of young people that crypto has transformed their lives forever. Legalising it will further boost our economy because of the international community.
Sometimes I wonder the connectivity that emanates from the human thought. Hmmm we are on the same page concerning banning cigarettes.
Thanks for sharing ma'am
You got the point
Many thanks for visiting
Indeed... Sometimes you can't help but wonder if indeed the government is only out to make you poor. Because it seems all their policies are designed to make the country worse than before. It's scary indeed.
It's scary Bruno...but you know what? I trust us to always find a way out
Thanks for your visit
My dear o, just imagine banning the two major things that give freedom to citizens. I know how the majority of Nigerians lived when there was no restriction in rice importation compare to what is happening now. It's very disheartening how a government would watch citizens suffer and can't proffer a positive way forward.
Same thing with crypto currency. I know how the youths found Independence when the knowledge of crypto became vast only for the government to place a ban on any form of crypto transactions. Sometimes, I ask myself if the motor of this country is "citizens must suffer." However, no matter how pressing those in power choose to oppress citizens, it's just a good thing God is still sustaining the poor masses.
The issue of rice is so painful..infact the ban is unreasonable....but I trust our people to keep pushing

That's just it, to keep pushing. Weytin we never see for this country and citizens have been conquering, God will continue to sustain the masses.
