I once created a writing community, this community borrowed from my former institution. As a result, everyone who had edited their writing felt disappointed with the money, even though the amount was small. I was quite disappointed with that. But, because I was no longer part of the community, I kept quiet.
It was different when I was in college. A long time ago, when I was still in college. I once joined a writing community. All writers joined online. Every city held meetings every once in a while. They also gathered at annual events. There was online coaching to dissect writing and rewards for members who diligently sent their writing to the media. The reward could be exchanged for a literary camp ticket every year. What did I get? Networking with a number of famous writers in Bandung City. Don't forget, I have a network of fiction editors in the Bandung mass media. During college I participated in that community.
Until finally, I worked as a journalist. Joining and doing volunteer work led me to work as a journalist in Bandung. Volunteering did not stop there. I also joined a number of organizations on campus and the network was quite large. Moreover, when I worked as a journalist, I was still involved in the organization. What did I get? From there, I got a ticket to Jakarta.
In Jakarta, I introduced a number of legislators and a number of officials. I worked as an assistant to the commissioner of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission. I worked for about two years. I met a lot of people. My capital for working is basic writing. I can write travel reports, write news and of course I take photos. Did I stop joining the community? Of course I didn't. I joined an organization with a larger management.
A number of intrigues and politics that I got. In this organization, it is bigger and very close to a number of other legislators and ministers. I learned to lead opinion, create positive narratives and trends, of course I learned about actions or demonstrations that can convey opinions well. At the same time, I also became a volunteer for Jokowi's 2019 victory to become president. I learned to manage better narratives, social media campaigns and others. Issue analysis especially.
What were the results? Not long after, I got a job at a well-known NGO in Indonesia with a very large income at that time. All the jobs I got, I didn't need to apply for jobs. I entered based on work in the organization. For others, I rely on insiders. But, I see this is a network built from volunteer work. When will I try it again? I will try it when I am abroad. I will try this, just like in Indonesia. We will see, time will tell. That's all I can tell. See you in the next story
