This year was one of the best year I have ever witnessed. Though there were some ups and downs, I got many unforgettable memories with good people, and also, with bad people.
Life is sweet and short, the year ran as fast as it could, but it's impact on my life is forever. There are many unforgettable things that happened to me this year, some were really sweet, and amazing, but some, were heart breaking and full of lessons.
As usual, the year started with me writing down the goals I want to achieve before the year runs out. I was thrilled, happy that I have seen a new year, not knowing what awaits me.
One of the major thing that happened this year which I will never forget, is when I took a trip to Abakiliki prison.
MY TRIP TO ABAKILIKI PRISON.
No, I was not imprisoned, I'm too innocent for that.
Ever since my life time, I have heard many things about police cell, and how hard life is in prison, but, I have never for a day entered a cell or be in prison.
I use to live in a place that is run by gangsters, so, I use to hear lots of things about these places. I made friends with these people just to listen to their story. Sometimes, I do buy them weed, just so that they can get high and tell me their experience in prison.
Most times, these people do brag about being to prison. It was like being to prison is the major determinant of how valued you are in the eyes of other gang members. Worst, if you are not a member of their group, they will call you a Jew man. Meaning a person that don't know anything and don't belong to anywhere.
Early this year, I decided to go and see what it feels like to be an inmate. I talked to my cousin, and he agreed to tag along.
When I and my cousin got there, I could feel a thread of fear from my upper spine, go down to my lower spine.
I naturally have claustrophobia, so, I found it difficult staying in the small place they told me to stay.
I was asked to drop my phone, and other electronics, which I did. When I got in, I began to feel really uncomfortable.
It became worst when the door was shut close behind me.
I began to think different negative things.
I saw the living conditions of inmates and I could not help it but feel pity. Life in prison is really hell.
I didn't get to see their solitary confinement because I was already hyperventilating because of the confined space, so, I hurriedly gave the prisoners what I brought for them, then, I hurried outside to catch fresh air. A breath of freedom.
I will never forget how I felt on that day. Even though these people deserve what they got, I still felt pity for them. They were living like birds in a cage, waiting to be set free one day.

life in the prison is bad.
My late uncle was a senior prison guard an we only hear stories from him. Crazy place to be.Few are innocent while other deserve to be there
We will never know unless you tell us, by the way, Nigerian forces can do and undo
After visiting the prison is when you'll get to value the gift of freedom you enjoy... I've been to Enugu prison for an outreach too, even though I didn't enter the prison rooms, the environment alone gave a whole different kinda vibes
Be God With You!
It is a fact that in life there are good people and bad people also come, so we all should remember the time spent with good people, then there are benefits, we don't have mental tension, your story is also interesting of this year.
