Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Those days, if someone told me a day would come where I would visit Facebook once in a while, I would never believe it. Those days, I spent all my time on Facebook and other social media platforms. I moved from one Facebook to another, engaging and making friends both within the country and outside the country. I was doing all these things without knowing that one could actually monetize the time spent on these apps until I was told, and I decided that instead of spending time and getting nothing in return, why not utilize my time and try to use it and make money for myself from the comfort of my home?
I started to struggle with building a Facebook page and group, and then I was always active on Facebook and did not find building the page and group difficult, as all I had to do was engage in different pages and groups and invite other users to join my own page and group. Since I was told that I could only monetize my account and page if I got a certain number of followers, I did all I could and was close to getting it before the account was hacked, and as a result of the loss, the passion to go into content creation as well as run a Facebook page and group died down. Who knows how it would have been if things had worked out well?
The continuous evolvement of technology has helped provide different ways to make money, and we no longer drive on 9-5 jobs before we can attend to our needs and wants. In those days, it was either a 9-5 job or a trade, with no other option, but in the world we live in today, we have so many options to choose from. You can do 9-5, go into trade, or go into content creation. Before now, only those who feel they have the passion and what it takes to be a content creator actually go into content creation, but lately the lack of jobs, the fact that it pays handsomely, and the love for fame have pushed a lot of people into that line, and the content creation space is now filled with the wrong content, misinformation, and mostly content without any morals or lessons to pick from.
No, monetizing social media is actually one of the best things that happened to social media; it caused more people to want to join social media and also gave people the opportunity to earn and not be completely dependent on 9-5 jobs. Even though monetizing social media has its disadvantages, I feel the advantages that came with doing so outweigh the disadvantages. People no longer just waste time on social media like back in the day; now people have fun and enjoy the entertainment that comes with being on social media while making money from it at the same time.
Though monetizing social media has caused a lot of people to post fake news and content that adds no value to society, it still does not stop monetizing social media from being one of the best things that happened to social media. I feel the only way to arrest this situation and reduce the amount of fake news and wrong content is if the authority or owners of the applications scrutinize posts and content before they are published for the general public to see. After all, it is a Web 2 platform; scrutinizing posts before they are published won't be so hard. That way, what hits the internet is controlled, and the amount of fake news and clickbait posts is reduced to the barest minimum.
Umm it's hard to believe things on social media some people post fake too.
Because of how much fake news flies on social media, it's hard to believe what we see on social media
Though social media has become part of our daily lives, it has become too saturated with fake news. I don't even know what to believe anymore and I purposely avoid downloading some apps because they only promote the spread of fake news.
It is no lie at all, most of the news on social media ends up to be fake.
I heard that now facebook rewards if you are active in some groups lol those high contributors get some money back lol. I think that the only thing bad from monetizing in social media is that brings more spam and content that will make the real and good information difficult to be found
This should be another way to reward everyone, at least that way both page owners and top contributors can earn.
Monetizing social media is one of the best thing that happens to most youths now especially in this country, without social media most people would be on the street begging for food because no job that would keep most of us busy and earn income but social media pave ways for most people and most people rely on social media than government jobs now.
You have said it all, African youths are the one benefitting the most from the monetising of social media..
Thanks for stopping by.
