Obsolete courses and skills people still venture into.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. It is no longer news that the world we are living in is moving with speed of light towards full digitalization, and a lot of things that were considered the means of getting things done are now obsolete and no longer in use. Those days we depended fully on letter writing to pass information, but technology has given us other means such as social media and even phone calls, and no one considered using letters anymore because they are more stressful and take longer to get a reply, but with the help of technology and social media, you can send a message and receive a response almost immediately.

The advancement and improvements of technology have made a lot of things that were considered the only way obsolete; some skills, careers, and courses have been considered obsolete too, all thanks to technology. My dad used to be a cameraman before the time of digital cameras, where they used the roll film cameras. When digital cameras were invented, the roll film cameras became obsolete, and everyone moved towards trying to learn how to use them and how they are operated. Using digital cameras required him to learn something new, and since he was not willing to undergo the stress, that brought the cameraman's job to an end, and till date we still have roll film cameras lying around the house and not being used for anything.

Once technology is involved, evolution and improvement are continuous, so settling for some courses and skills instead of evolving with technology will only make one a thing of the past. The improvement and evolvement that comes with technology is nonstop. This is why everyone has been advised to learn a tech skill because soon or later, without a tech skill, you might not fit in anywhere in the world because technology is slowly taking over, from the days of search engines for research purposes, and now we are In an era where you can just give an artificial intelligence instructions and they get the jobs perfectly and efficiently for you. The world is moving towards robots and robotics that can help take care of the house, which simply means sooner or later babysitting and housekeeping jobs will be done by robots.

For me, one of the many courses I feel are now obsolete or considered obsolete, but people still go in for is "library and information science." You can agree with me that people no longer visit libraries like they used to because they now have a digital device that offers them the opportunity to carry their library in their pocket and can access it from anywhere in the world. People no longer need to go to buildings (libraries) before they can gain access to the information they need; those days people had to go out to get information, but technology has made it easy, such that information meets people right in their bed.

So for me, library and information science is one of those courses that are now obsolete as people no longer visit libraries as technology has made it possible for them to have an electronic library that they can access from anywhere and at anytime they want, library buildings are slowly closing up in same way many newspaper companies had to shutdown since people can now gain access to the papers using their devices and no need moving.

The Truth in this statement is very obvious, our smartphone devices have taken the place of all those above mentioned, technology and Tech has taken over

Technology is really doing the most and we all need to level up else we would be left behind.

Ohhh! Hi, Offia. I didn’t think about this. During my secondary school days, I used to enjoying visiting the library. It was my go-to place. However, technology has changed everything. Why do I need to go to the library when there are numerous resources on my phone?

Exactly, technology has made it easy, you can access all the information you need from the comfort of your room.
