RE: LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE

in Hive Learners2 years ago

I could not help myself from laughing while I read this post. 😂😂
Yoruba people be doing the most with their culture.

The part that cracked me up the most is the part where you talked about how you could not get what you wanted from that old woman, simply because you both could not communicate.

I am Yoruba, and I know how bad we are at keeping our dialect to ourselves when it comes to official settings. I mean, it is just too much.😂😂 Church o, school o, hospital, farm, bank, anywhere! Anywhere that is dominated by Yoruba is most likely going to have Yoruba languages here and there.

But it is actually normal. Had it been that Lagos was largely populated by a tribe like Igede, the same would have still been the case. You just have to learn the dominant language if you really want to roll with that tribe. I think hanging out with friends that speak Yoruba often can help you understand the language. You can just always ask them what everything they say means. Yoruba is quite easy to understand. Speaking, however, is not so easy to do. I struggle with speaking a lot of my own dialect.
