Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is "Right to free speech.".In every country, the right to free speech is fundamental, and people should be able to express their rights, thoughts, and opinions without fear. In my country, Nigeria, it started that everyone, regardless of their status, age, or religion, is entitled to express their rights and opinions without any fear as long as they are a citizen of Nigeria. You can express your thoughts. So the question now is, can our rights be taken from us? Or can we be stopped from expressing our thoughts and opinions? To me, I don't think expressing our right to free speech should be taken from us, because if we are banned from expressing our rights, it will have a huge impact on our lives, but that doesn't mean that because we were given the right to express our opinion, we should start saying rubbish about people, rambling on every matter, and causing problems to people and the country at large.
Despite the fact that we are given the right to free speech, if we cross the limit and say what we are not supposed to say, then we have to face the consequences. You know the government can put limits on the right to free speech, such as banning any hate speech, etc. But in some countries that hold authority, the right to free speech can be restricted so that the citizens won't have any right to express their opinions or thoughts. So that means that despite the fact that we are given the right to free speech, speaking freely isn't safe everywhere.

Are we simply scared or intimidated by the opposing forces?
Some people may choose to remain silent and not speak up because they are afraid of being judged by people or to face the consequences. While some aren't afraid or bother about the consequences if they say what they are not supposed to say. The reason why some people are scared to express their rights and opinions is because of the fear of the society, like what will the society say about them if they express their rights and opinions or from groups that disagree with them on their thoughts and opinions. When we choose to stay silent because we're scared of repercussions, does that count as an infringement of our rights? But first, what does infringement mean? Infringement means breaking a rule or law. In my country, Nigeria, the citizens, especially the poor people, prefer to stay silent and suffer than to express their rights and opinions. It's common in my country and other countries that if someone expresses their rights and opinions, they would be arrested by the force or be shot down instantly.
In conclusion, I believe that staying silent because of the fear of repercussions counts as an infringement of our rights because our ability to express ourselves or our rights is important, and our lives matter a lot.

In Venezuela, if we say what we think, we are tortured, murdered or imprisoned. It doesn't matter if you are a child, an elderly person or are sick.
Freedom of expression must be respected anywhere in the world, it is vital, it is what builds and strengthens a society.
That's bad, why should they be torturing you guys, after we have the right to speak our thoughts, rights, and opinions.
There is a dictatorship, and totalitarianism, we cannot say what we think or they will kill us.
It's dishearting to see that in our country reverse is the case, even though they say there is freedom of speech, we all know there are always consequences and that's why many shy away from speaking out.
Yes, that's why most people prefer to be silent than to speak because they know if they say what they suppose not to say there's consequences for them.
Thanks, pandex.
It is being done in the same way in every country, no one has the freedom to speak the truth and this thing is wrong, then the next generation will be forced to leave the country.
Yes, that's wrong everyone are entitled to express their rights and opinions
