What is actually Free will and what is Choice? Is there any contract and similarity in this two words.

Many a time we have been told every human have a free will to do what they actually want to do, they are free to do anything, so they say but it's quite an illusion, a very big illusion for that matter this is because there are so many rules in our society that goes against such freedom,a lot of rules that if you don't follow, you are going to loose your freedom lol.

You see a lot of Philosophers, psychologists, and sociologists have argued about free-will for centuries.

Are we permitted to make choices at our own discretion or are we restricted to the rules and norms set by society? In this post, I will take a closer look at the paradox of choice and examine the conflict between free will and societal rules.

The crazy Illusion of Free Will

Primarily, humans believe that we have the opportunity and power to chart our own lives. We can follow our dreams, make choices regarding our professions, and define our own futures. Once you delve deeper, it becomes clear that our choices and decisions are filtered through the lens of one’s socio norms, expectations, and ethnicity.

Consider the choice of career for example. We are always told that the job market is endless to everyone, but the reality is that one’s career options are mostly dictated by one’s education, background, and resources. The same phenomena extends to one’s expectations in relationships, family, and lifestyle.
But think about it, what if I want to become a Robber or Prostitute or kidnapper, I mean it's all about my free will right? Boom I get arrested for that, I hope y'all understand the picture I'm painting.

The Impact of Rules on Society

Just like family and school, society also carries a system of rules which is set in place for a designated purpose. Since we were young, we have been forced to abide by specific rules. Those that do not follow precise rules tend to be rejected or at best punished in one form or another.

Have you ever felt like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, torn between making a choice that's truly yours and conforming to the expectations of others?

I know I have. Growing up, I was always told that I had the power to choose my own path, to pursue my passions and make decisions that would shape my destiny. But as I navigated the world, I began to realize that my choices were often influenced by societal norms, cultural expectations, and even the opinions of those around me.

It's a paradox, really. We're told that we have free will, that we can make choices that are truly our own. But the reality is that our choices are often shaped by the rules and norms of society.

Think about it. From a young age, we're taught to conform to certain standards of behavior. We're told to obey laws, respect authority, and follow the rules. And those who don't conform are often punished or ostracized.

It's a heavy burden to carry, feeling like you need to conform to the expectations of others in order to fit in. But what about those who don't fit the mold? What about those who want to challenge the status quo, who want to forge their own paths, or who simply want to make choices that don't align with societal norms?

Do we really have free will, or are we bound by the rules and norms of society? It's a question that has puzzled philosophers, psychologists, and sociologists for centuries.

In conclusion:
For me, the answer lies somewhere in between. While we do have the power to make choices, those choices are often influenced by the world around us. But that doesn't mean we're completely bound by societal rules. We have the power to challenge the status quo, to forge our own paths, and to make choices that are truly our own.. Well said bro. It's not a plain yes or no answer because of the intricacies involved.

Thanks brother

We have free will when we want to actualize something meaningful, like good plans and ideas that will be beneficial to others.

I agree with you that our choices are shaped by factors like religion, policies, personal upbringing, and so on. Indeed, it is a paradox. For example, Muslims are not allowed to eat some certain things because their religion dictates that.

Thanks for sharing, Drey.

Yes very true, our choice is always shaped by the rules of the society

Nicely written. We aren't really free because our choices are always shaped by the rules and norms of the society. For instance, some Muslims aren't even free to eat pigs because they are regarded as dirty animals and their religion forbids that.

Nice example, that's just it,
Thanks for coming around

Our freedom is limited to some extent...it's important that rules exist otherwise people will use free will to do the unthinkable

Hehe, humans can do anything truly,
I remember one film I watched, where there were no rules, people were just into crimes and inhuman acts
