Hey Fellow Hivers,
So I want to share a story with you that's going to sound a little crazy hehe but bear with me. Y'all know how people always talk about the dangers of peer pressure?
Oh Having some friends will influence you to do this and do that: bla bla bla
Well guess what,
I am here to tell you that it actually changed my life for the better.
Growing up, I was never really into fashion or taking care of myself. I mean, I was a total slob or should I say total nerd 🤓.
I wear the worse combination of clothes, worse colour combinations, no good taste in foot wears, I don't fancy wrist watches and chains.
What about using cologne and perfumes; I don't even know about that honestly.
All I know was just to wake up and wear something, used my body lotion any month or week I can remember.
Seriously that was just my state, when I was younger. I really don't care about all this things.
But then I got to high school and started hanging out with a new group of friends,(Bode,Mayowa,Atinuke:the little princess among us, and Alfred). They were all super into fashion and always looked put together. I, on the other hand, looked like I just rolled out of bed lol, very disoriented and shabby looking.
At first, I felt like an outcast. My friends would tease me about my clothes, but it wasn't mean-spirited. They just wanted me to step up my game. And honestly, it was kind of annoying at first. I didn't see why I needed to change who I was just to fit in.
But the more I hung out with my friends, the more I started to feel like I was missing out. They would get compliments on their outfits, and people would always comment on how nice they smelled. I wanted that too,
The most painful part was where my crush In the school met us at the school tennis court, her name is Eunice, she complements everyone dressing and looks except me, I felt like the ground should open and swallow me on that fateful day🤣.
So after that crazy occurrence, I totally had a change of mind, firstly I started small. I invested in a few new shirts and a pair of nice pants. And let me tell you, it was a game-changer. I started to feel more confident, and people actually started to notice me.
But it wasn't just about the clothes. I also started taking care of my personal hygiene. I began using deodorant and cologne, and I even started taking care of my hair and skin.
Looking back, I realize that peer pressure played a huge role in my transformation. If my friends hadn't encouraged me to step up my game, I might still be the same old slob I used to be.
Of course, I know that peer pressure can be a bad thing too. But in my case, it was exactly what I needed. It pushed me to become a better version of myself.
So, if you're feeling the same as my story or you can relate to it, don't be afraid to take a cue from your friends. You never know how a little bit of peer pressure might change your life for the better.
