Later that day school closed and we all went back to the hostel to rest and do other stuffs. So, I was at the hostel tab fetching water where I saw my colleagues running towards the lecture hall. Hmph!! What did I know? Why were they running? Is it part of my business? "Of course not" I thought to myself. So I continued with what I was doing at the tab.
As I was standing there I heard a voice calling out my name from afar. I quickly turned to that direction and realized it was one of my colleagues calling me. "Won't you write the quiz?" She asked. Qui...iiz? What quiz? I answered. Prof's quiz! Have you forgotten Prof said we have a quiz? She replied. There I was all surprised and anxious as she run pass me. I had no idea that the tutor informed the class of an upcoming quiz. I quickly left my bucket at the tab, run back to hostel for my pen and went to the class.
I sat down still anxious, surprised and panting at the same time. I then asked the person sitting next to me when the quiz was announced and he said it was during the first period.
My eyes became teary and my hands started shaking. I couldn't get rid of the thoughts that was running through my mind..."what at all am I going to write?", "where am I going to begin?".
Suddenly I heard a bang on my desk. I was the tutor putting the question paper on my desk. As soon as he finished sharing the papers, he asked as to turn over the question papers and start work. You should've seen how nervous I was. My heart was beating rapidly as if I was about to die😱.
I did as I was told, turned the question paper and to my surprise, the questions were what I learnt during the weekends😂. Initially I was finding it hard to recall since I was still recovering from the previous anxious state that I was in. But as time went on, as if I've taken an immune booster😂, I wrote like never before.
In the end, I left the class excited. At the end of it all I had the highest marks and I was really glad I was proactive. I loved the experience of an IMPROMTU test. Although I was able to do it, I made sure never to skip class and when I did, due to one or two equally important reasons, I enquired from my colleagues what was said in my absence. My problem was not asking of what was said in my absence the first time I skipped class and I made sure it never repeated itself.
This is actually my first time partaking a contest and I thank @kronias and all the administrative members of this awesome platform for coming up with such initiative. Good luck to all participants, may the one with the best write-up win😘.
