Being without our phones isn't an easy thing to do for most of us. It's not just what we use in making calls, we use it for various purposes like texting, connecting with people on social media, and even surfing the internet for online businesses. It has become part of our daily lives and a constant companion that we can't just do without putting our phones aside. It seems that we are now getting addicted to the use of our phones. Some people can be online from morning till night, just going from one social media page to another. I have a friend who will say if she leaves her phone for five minutes, her body will not be comfortable but sometimes it's just good to take a break.

Sometimes, I can't do without my phones and social media. It seems I was getting addicted because I was doing almost anything with my phone in my hand from eating to using the toilet. I just couldn't let my phone go for a minute. No matter how it seems am addicted to my phone and can not do without it, there is something that can make me stay away from my phone -Reading novels.

Whenever I pick up a good novel to read, my phone becomes the least of my worries and is not important anymore. I love reading the romance and action genres and whenever I begin reading, I let my imagination create pictures in my head. I feel like am the main character in the novel and everything just plays in my head that's how I get immersed whenever I am reading a novel.

Reading novels has been my companion time ever since my secondary school days. So, you can see why I can forget about my phone which I consider a necessity. So, I have come to terms with the fact that I can go hours and even a day and pay less attention to my phone because I lose track of time and block out any distractions. It's an experience I cherish and value over being with my phone.

Reading a novel has a very positive impact on my well-being and gives me a break from my phone. Being on the phone all day, for weeks, and months can be overwhelming for me, and sometimes gives me a headache. It's my little way of self-care without involving my phone.

It is good to step back from technology and all social media issues and reconnect with ourselves with what we love and are passionate about. It brings about a sense of satisfaction and peace of mind.
