Welcome to the first featured contest of the week. It's a great week of new experience, new hope, new opportunity, new pursuit, new ambition, and greatness.
According to the contest question, History is very important in the school curriculum; it will help students study past events, particularly events related to humans in Government or something relevant to humans. Like in government, people didn't come into the seat of government to be the Governor of the state or the president of the country. It started as a prime minister. I got to know this by reading the history of government and what my teacher taught me in secondary school. To be very sincere with you, history was my worst subject in school. Any subject that is filled with history would hate that subject, and I wouldn't like to narrate history because I don't like it. But it is good to know and understand how things have changed over time. History is like, knowing the start of a thing and keeping a record of that thing to the end if death permits you to do that.
Like in Nigeria, History is part of the educational system even in the university. Any course has history documentation to it. I studied linguistics; under linguistics, we have other core courses or branches of linguistics, and there will be a history of linguistics, which we have undergone in my year 1, first, and second semesters. It was quite interesting to learn about how Linguistics came about, and the perspectives of theorists were amazing. History as a subject or course in the curriculum of the Educational system is the result of Nigeria's constitution and educational constitution, this is what makes History as a subject or course unique in the educational system in Nigeria.
However, if it is a nursery school to junior secondary school to senior secondary school that's SSS 1, it is compulsory to learn history. So, in Nigeria, what makes us unique is the constitution. Other countries may not have History studies in their curriculum because the constitution there doesn't permit them to study History.
Additionally, students need to know the weaknesses and strengths of the past leaders in Nigeria. Even the history of our family, we need to know so that we will know how we do things and not follow the footsteps of our forefathers.
Coming down to the higher institution, History is by the choice of the students. There are students in the university who are studying pure history as a course and they feel fine with it.
This is me telling you that history is good. Knowing the history of the government, family, or a particular thing we are handling is good. Acknowledging the historical mystery of a thing would help us to know whether we should continue or withdraw from it.
History in the educational system in Nigeria is good for our pupils. It will help them to be strategic and to do more in life.
Therefore, history classes are important and should be treated or seriously handled for the sake of the future.

History is bedrock of every research, so therefore without history we may end up with the wrong knowledge about a thing
