Splendid evening, everyone.
It's another Hive learner's featured contest for the week. I'm so excited to be part of this contest to share my opinion on this topic.
According to the topic, what is that one crime? I would say it's self-defense, and I boldly say that self-defense is not a crime but a legal justification for an action that would have become a crime in the process. Laws on self-defense and crime vary. There are countries in the process of committing a crime where self-defense comes in; there will be illegal consequences, and there are some countries that would consider going through legal consequences depending on the jurisdiction of the country.
However, government law enforcement should keep in mind that what seems a justifiable act should be allowed or let go and not be considered a crime, and the penalty for such an act should be neutralized for fairness and peace in our society. An act results in a crime should be taken to law and should face consequences.
I'm living in the student environment, and I know how students are suffering because of hand robbery or bad guys robbing the environment with harmful weapons; you know how scary it could be, to be in the circle of them. Went from house to house in groups with sharp weapons to threaten students to get their belongings from them and not only that, one of the students will be shut to death, this is an irrational criminal act that is not permitted or law should be taken into consideration for such act to get prohibited in our country and those involved should be punished severely.
Over the years that I have been in school, I have seen and heard many negative things about students, which can be very traumatizing to the health of others.
Furthermore, I had a scene that occurred last year still in our student's environment. Students were furious about the last incident that happened to their fellow students. Another day, a group of robbers came to their compound to rub them off their properties, they came as usual to kill and take away. While they were entering, this time around the landlord of the building was around and well-alerted. Those robbers were four in number, and it happened that the landlord held one firmly at the back. Students supported him, and others ran away. The one the landlord held struggled to be free but there was no way for him to escape. The landlord was the person who was exposed. Have they been about to set this thief ablaze? The landlord put his hand, his necklace, and waist beads as his protection, and that's when they were able to set him ablaze for fore to burn him to ashes. This act took place on the main road, where all eyes were fixed on him as he screamed for help but no one came to help him.
This was a legal act or plan that allowed students to use legal force to protect themselves by taking such actions to prevent the attackers from invading their territory. I said this was self-defense by the landlord, and the students were seen as justifiable acts.
In such an environment that student are living, security should be around for the safety of the students and their properties.
Thank you for reading through.

I'm of the opinion that self-defense should not be labeled as a crime. Usually, it's a situation of kill or be killed, and nobody would sit back and let themselves be harmed without putting up a fight at least.
For the school situation, it would have been better that they beat the guy and handed him to authorities(yes, I know how crapoy our justice system can be). I'm just not for jungle justice.
Yes, the policemen were there when they supported the setting of the guy ablaze. Before this happened, they killed one of our students still on the same street. So people were angry, and they burnt him.
However, While thinking of self defense one must be careful not to end up of being a victim in a situation whereby the attacker came to get your belongings but never intended to harm the victim.
Anyways nice write up. Self defense should not be a crime. I am in support of this.
Yeah, we should also be careful. Some came to get belongings but not having the intention of harming. Thank you for reading.
You're welcome
There are levels to self defence especially when the attackers only come to take some belongings and never meant to harm but in the process got killed with the excuse of defending oneself, that's a crime to me.
Yeah, that's a crime. Before they burnt the guy, there were still people who came and killed one of the students, and thank God, policemen were there supporting people to burn him.
But why not the landlord hand over the robber to policemen? Instead of burning the guy ?
The policemen supported the killing of the man by setting him ablaze by the side of the road.
