Serving My Father's Land is Compulsory For Me and You!

in Hive Learners3 months ago (edited)

Hello, everyone

I was so excited when I saw this topic on the Discord channel. Going through the Hive learner's community, I saw many corpers on duty and those that have finished, sharing their experiences in the camp and in their of place of primary assignment. I was happy to read and to learn from their experiences. I'm also preparing my mind to face the good and the hurdles of NYSC.

I'm a prospective youth corper who is preparing and asking questions about the journey and what it means to serve our father's land. There are possibilities of serving in our father's land. My mind would always be like, "I want to change the environment; I want to have a new exposure to another environment, where I can learn about people's culture and relate with people of different backgrounds, and then the allawee follows".

Some of the corpers had good intentions or plans for their service year but it didn't turn out to their expectations because of how things are.

Some say that during their time, the only time they had a good time was, (a three-week orientation program ) before posting them to their place of primary assignment, PPA.

Moreover, most of the students in tertiary institutions do not find it compulsory to serve. After school, they slot into business or skills that would make them outstanding. Some want to go and come back to rest. Yeah, that's the reason they enforced it so that our youths would participate in it. Without making it as an enforcement Nigerians youths wouldn't treat it as important. So, we need to explore, learn, and discover.

The beautiful thing is that after my research, I discovered that Nigeria is the only country where NYSC is implemented for graduates in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the pictures here are my friend's, and senior colleague's pictures. She is amazing and I like her, so humble. I thank God for what she is, and I pray for more grace in her life. She sent these pictures to me. She has tried for me. Asking her questions like this, I disturbed her, but she never got tired or complained or ignored me for once. She addressed every question in her heart by answering me.

Many corners are fortunate to be retained at their place of primary assignment because of their performance at their place of work.

The major purpose of the NYSC service in Nigeria is cooperation, unity in diversity, and love among citizens regardless of their origin.

There is a purpose behind everything we do. Some people during their service will get an engagement ring, some an appointment that will bring a shift in their lives, a scholarship that will also be offered to study abroad, and other exposures that would bring intentional relationships and connections for the future. In this life, we need people to help us discover our place, and we need to be the presentation.

For me, serving our father's land is compulsory because there would be a whole lot to learn, opportunities, and a platform to express myself. I love teaching, that's another platform to express myself. I'm very sure I will be posted to where I will teach. And, I have prepared myself to be part of OBS, Orientation Broadcasting Service. This one is related to what I studied at school and it is safer than joining other activities that would break my head. 🤣

I pray the three-week program and my PPA will be of great benefit. I can't wait to relate to sweet people both male and female, especially those who like to sing.
