Hi, everyone!
The recycling system in Nigeria is good and it is a good idea to have been organized properly for the health of the society and for the peace of the people. Some people do not engage in this practice at all, and some do.
What is this recycling practice it is a method by which people, communities, or industries used to collect waste material that would be in landfills just to reduce environmental pollution and other health risk that would be a problem to the people. And I will be sharing with you the structure of recycling stem in Nigeria.
The structure of the recycling system in Nigeria is the informal sector which plays a major role in recycling activities in Nigeria. Now, this is how it is being done in my place. In my house, I have a trash can; in my trash can, there are different recyclable items. When it's filled, it's my place to take it to a dump site. Last week, I had an overflow of disposable items that I couldn't carry or bear. I had to call a waste picker in my area to pack all the waste items to the dump site, I paid him money for carrying out the activity, which I call door-to-door activity to the big trash can for all the waste.
However, there are trash cans on all the corners of the street for dumping refuse and it's called waste trucks for carrying or lifting the waste to the landfills; this is their common destination. This place is always left open and untreated. And the good part of it is that people are not living close and if people are around that environment, it's going to bring serious health and environmental risks. This process of recycling system is practiced in Nigeria to reduce our environment being polluted by land, air, water, and humans.
If you go to the dump site or landfills, you will see people in search of recyclable items like cans, bottles, papers, plastic, organic waste for food scraps for gardening, and metals. All these wastes have designated bins or color-coded bins for easy collection in Nigeria. Some places or streets, do mix this waste together, where you find waste pickers scattering inside the dump sites for whatever waste they are looking for.
Right close to my house, I saw some young boys digging in the ground. I asked them what they were looking for in the ground, and they said waste items. I was confused as to why they were looking for waste in the ground. I stood still watching them, and behold I saw them pulling out an iron from the ground, this vehicle part. I was shocked. And I realized that the place they were digging was an old place where they usually dump waste.
This is how recycling practices are done in Nigeria, and fortunately, we have one active method that has been of aid to the recycling system, which is the informal sector; it is the largest sector in Nigeria to carry these practices, and other sectors are trying to organize a system. Some States in Nigeria have organized recycling hubs for waste items to be recycled appropriately.

Yes, this is a practice being appreciated in Nigeria to reduce waste and save our environment.
Without this practice, our country would be in the mess.
that's great, nigeria has a good recycling system and recycling centers, so there used goods can be recycled into new products
Yeah, some new products come from a recycling company. Thank you.
Yes, most people don't know that all those young people that carry out informal recycling in Nigeria are important.
I mean, you can count the least five in an area per day. Now imagine adding all these informal means up. They are literally saving us.
Definitely. They are important and they are making money from it.
