An Unsolved Mystery

in Hive Learners2 days ago

Punishing the kids for a sin commited by their dad or a relative, has always been an unsolved mystery to me because I just don't get it.

And this is a topic that I've often thought about, especially whenever I watch Korean series or Chinese series that has to do about the dynasty and stuff like that where treason isn't something that they take lightly. Whenever a man is charged with treason, he and his entire family has to pay the price, they all have to die.

That has always been crazy to me but then I always dismissed the thought because I would say to myself that it's a movie and probably things like that never happens.. But then a few days ago, I was on tiktok watching an interview of this guy who escaped from North Korea.

The interviewer had asked him what punishment was given to the family of someone who escapes from North Korea, and if I remember correctly, he had said that it all depended on how important the person who escaped was. If it's a high ranking member in the country, then some bad things could really happen to his family..

I remember watching that interview and just being scared for my life and I'm not even in the country..I'm continents away, yet the thought of the family paying the price for one person's action is very scary to me.

Anyways, today's contest question asks us if children should inherit the sins of the father, and my answer to that is a straight up no but then, when you do think about it and in the spirit of fairness, there just might be another angle to this whole question.

And I say that because it doesn't sound fair that when it comes to inheritance, we only focus on the good side of things and totally ignore the bad side. If we're being fair and honest, shouldn't both things be inherited or both be left alone?

But then again, I believe there have been cases where the family ends up inheriting the good and bad, especially in cases where their parents were in debt before they died, and now the kids have to look for ways to settle those debts or end up losing things that are valuable to them.

A good example could be a kid inheriting a company or a house from his late parents, only to find out the mortgage on that house hasn't been paid yet. Now he has two options, either to take on the debt and pay it off to keep the house, or he doesn't pay and loses the house... That to me is a kid inheriting both the good and bad.

But you see, that doesn't sound so bad because it's a debt, something that can be paid with money..but making use of the work "sins of the father" in this context kinda gives it a different meaning, a much more scary and spiritual meaning, especially to a guy like me who spent most of his life in the church.. Lol

Anyways, there you have it. I honestly don't think the son should inherit the sins of the father. I sure pray I don't.

Sadly , it happens in our society today and to know that even God mentioned it in the scripture that he would punish the children till the fourth generation because of the sins of their father is another thing that makes this nut hard to crack.
Honestly, I can inherit both the bad and good of my father but anyone that sins should face it biko... really unfair to suffer for what I know nothing about.

It's not just unfair, it really doesn't make sense because I thought they said it's every man for himself?

So why am I suffering for someone else?

I believe it's unfair to inherit the sins you are innocent of. Why should we pay for what we don't know? Let the finger that err be cut off👌

I totally agree with you.

It's very easy to say it should not be because a son do not done anything wrong why he would be punished?

Exactly my point.
