Living in a country where it's said to have the biggest church in the world and pastors own private jets and universities, it is expected for everyone to want to jump into the "church business" and that means fake prophecies flying here and there.
And this is because nothing brings money more than fake prophecies. People like it when you tell them what they want to hear, like this year being their year of success and all of that stuff. Nothing opens their purses faster than these kind of prophecies.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all of these prophecies are fake, as a matter of fact I believe there are really good honest men of God out there, people who were called by God, but there are also fake men of God too, the ones who called themselves.
Anyways, there was this one time my mom had taken me to one of the weekly services that she attends at this particular church. And towards the end of the program, the pastor had started to prophesy. He would go from person to person, telling them about different things in their lives while everyone else would shout at the top of their voices "Haleluyah!!"
He had continued like that until he got to my mom and just like he did for everyone else, he had given her her own prophecy. Although I don't remember the exact things he had said that day, it was something about one of her siblings that is about to get married, that she should pray for her.
And as usual, everyone had shouted Haleluyah!!!
On our way back home, I had asked my mom if any of her siblings was about to get married and she said no but she was going to pray anyway. She had probably given me that response because she didn't want me to think of the pastor as a fake man of God, even though that was the last time I saw her attend the program.
Funny enough, now that I do think about it, I feel why the pastor had chosen that prophecy was because my mom has always looked young and seeing me with her when I was still a kid, he probably must have thought I was her first child, and if she only just got married few years ago, then she must have younger siblings who aren't married yet.
What he didn't know was that although she looked young, she wasn't. I was her third child and every one of her siblings were already married.
Anyways, like I said, the church has become a money-grabbing scheme of late and we all have to be careful not to get scammed with this so called prophecies all the time. Yes, there might be real ones out there, but let's be careful.
My understanding of Christianity is that Jesus was the Son of God. As such Jesus fulfilled all of the prophecies of the Old Testament.
Why would there be a prophecy after the fulfillment of the greatest prophecy?
This provides people the ability to talk about the problematic history of prophecies while discouraging people from thinking that they are prophets.
Since the prophecies where fulfilled, anyone who claims to have a new gospel is misguided and is likely misleading their followers.

I can understand it quite well as I can also see many people like that. I think all of us have some kind of desire which is not so easy to fulfill and those people use our desire as our weakness. Fortunately, I never rely on luck fully as long as I am capable.
