There are things that could happen to you sometimes that can make you question certain things about yourself, for me, it was my manhood and it was due to something that happened last night.
You see, for some reason last night I couldn't go to sleep, I just laid there on my bed, doing nothing. But luckily for I and everyone at my hostel, sometime around 2:30am, our water tank had gotten filled up and it turned out that the guy who left it on had dozed off. So I had decided to go do the right thing, which was to turn off the water.
Before I left my room that night, I was contemplating locking my door or just leaving it open, seeing how it literally was going to take me seconds to go downstairs and come back up... So I decided to leave the door open and went to turn off the water. When I got back, my mind had asked me a very dump and somewhat scary question, it had asked that what if when I was downstairs, someone scary had walked into my room and hid themselves somewhere.
So the first thing I had done when I got into my room, was to check everywhere to make sure I was alone, which to the glory of God, I was. But after fifteen minutes of me lying down back on my bed, I heard a sound from my bathroom that almost gave me a heart attack.
I had immediately gotten up and slowly made my way to the bathroom. Trust me when I say that I was almost shitting my pants because my silly mind was at work again, and this time, it was asking me that what if someone had indeed snuck in and I didn't see them when I searched.
By the time I got to the bathroom, I was ready to run away if I saw anything unusual.. Lord knows that if I wasn't the only one at home that night, I wouldn't have gone to investigate myself. Luckily for me, it turned out that my toilet seat had fell and that was what made the noise.
When I returned back to bed, I couldn't help but laugh at myself.. I had asked myself if this is how I plan on being the man of the house when the time comes.
And I asked that because a part of me knew that if I was married and something like that had happened with my wife at home, she will be the one investigating while I hide cowardly behind her, ready to bolt to the door at the first sight of something unusual.
Anyways, thankfully I still have some time to prepare myself for situations like that and hopefully get a lot tougher and less scared than I am now.
