Sometimes when I look at the world today, I get scared a little bit because I just know that the way this generation is moving, a lot of things won't be right when the next generation comes.
You see, all my life I've always been taught that right is right and wrong is wrong. I was taught that just because everyone is doing something wrong, doesn't make it right. But unfortunately these days, people make you feel like you not doing what everyone is doing, regardless of if what they're doing is wrong, makes you wrong.
Let me explain.
Let's take online fraud for an instance. Millions of Nigerian youths are currently into it, this is why the police feels like they could arrest any youth they see and label him a fraudster and they would probably be 70% correct.
But it wasn't always this way. Online fraud used to be something that was done in secret by people who weren't really scared to go to jail. Unfortunately, that isn't the case anymore and a lot of people are so into it that they make you feel like the bad person when they ask if you're also into fraud and you say no.
Over here, I know how many times I've had to pretend to be a fraudster when I find myself in the midst of certain people just so that I wouldn't be seen as someone who could rat them out, therefore making me a danger to them and endangering my life in the process.
And this doesn't only happen in just fraud, it happens in almost everything. I can't count how many times I've heard someone say something bad and when I try to make them see that what they're doing or about to do is wrong, everyone else starts to laugh at me, telling me about how the world isn't what it used to be and how this was the current way the world works.
It's as if everyone has made peace with doing the wrong things that they now make people who try to do right look like they're the ones doing wrong. And this is so sad because they're certain people who aren't strong enough to fight off this people and keep on doing right, so they end up joining those other guys because they now truly believe that that is how the world works.
If you ask me, it's crazy and scary..and that is why I feel a bit sad for the next generation because it's going to be far more worse for them.
I don't know why so many youths need to take the way to be an online fraud. In my country, there also exist such people, but it is not so significant to talk about. Even if 70% can be fraud, police should not arrest them without evidence. As far as I know, an innocent person should not be punished even if 100 criminals need to be spared for it.
Although this isn't an excuse for the police, I guess they've gotten so used to 9 inside every 10 persons being a fraudster that they just feel it's right to arrest anyone... Of course corruption has a huge hand to play in all of this because at the end of the day, all the police are interested in is the money they get for bail.
I'm this world right now doing something right might seem odd to so many people just because of the polluted mlndset been set to them. It is now diff9to continually do right without been confronted, so disheartening sometimes I ask how did we get to this level. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece
It's crazy how we now find ourselves in a world where you have to hide to be good because we're surrounded by people who aren't trying to do the right thing. Like I said, it's scary.
