If there's one thing parents need to teach their kids, it is the fact that not everyone needs a reason to lie, people lie sometimes just because they can, not because they have to...they just do it.
And the reason why I think parents need to educate their kids on that is so that it doesn't take them by surprise when they go out into the real world.
You see, I grew up in a home where lying was seen to be one of the greatest sins you could commit. My parents hated it when we lied to them and they always made sure to punish us severely, so we just stopped lying.
I personally made sure never to put myself in a position where I had to lie to them unless it was a situation where the truth was going to put me in a much more bigger problem than the lie...so what that meant was that if I needed to lie, it had to be for a really really good reason.
And growing up that way unfortunately gave me this mentality that everyone was just like that, that no one would lie if they didn't have a good reason to...it turned out that I was stupid and dumb for thinking that way.
I almost ended up in trouble a couple of times just for thinking that way. One time a lady had accused me of something I didn't do and I remember being so speechless that I couldn't say anything for a minute because in my mind, all I could think of was what would have happened to me if she had accused me in a public place where people are quick to react without even hearing my side of the story.
Luckily for me, the other person in the room was someone who knew me too well and knew that she was making the whole thing up. I couldn't even retaliate or do anything other than to move far away from her because all it takes is for her to repeat the same thing somewhere else and it will be a completely different story.
Luckily for me, knowing what I know now has given me some sort of idea of the whole thing and now I no longer get surprised when I see people lie just because they can, be it in huge or little scenarios... I've gotten used to it now and the least I can do is to be careful with the kind of people I associate myself with.
Sometimes they just get way too comfortable in lying. Then they don't even care about the consequences, they just do whatever benefits them only.
And it's scary to know that there are people like that out there to be honest...people who don't know where to draw the line. We all just have to be careful.

Agreed. I have seen that most of the people lie for no reason. They lie because they used to do it. I think we also know them now well if we spent some time with them.
We might know some of them but not all of them because we meet new people occasionally.
