I'm currently at that stage of my life where I get to learn something new everyday and be aware about the fact that I'm learning something new and I love it. For today's discovery, I've come to understand that most of time, no matter the plan we've made, we will always end up where life wants us to end up.
If you've been a frequent reader here, then you know without a doubt than I've talked about traveling back home for an unlimited amount of time, and everytime I get close to leaving this state, something would come up that will force me to postpone my travel plans. Some of these things being my clearance, my dad and many other reasons.
But somehow I had believed that no matter the delay, nothing was going to stop me from traveling home for the holidays. I had even written a post talking about how this holiday will be different for me, compared to the other ones where I've had to spend it alone.
Well, I thought it was going to be different and that I was going to spend it with friends and family, but apparently, I will be spending it with just friends, friends that are over here of course.
You see, in as much as I so much wanted to travel back home, a friend of mine had gone to ask for the price of transportation from my location back to my family house and they were told that it was 53k, that is currently more than half the amount I pay for my hostel and it was only the amount for going back home.
So what that meant was that if I wanted to go and come back, it was going to cost me more than my rent for next year to do that. After seeing how expensive that was, I had done the maths and decided that maybe it was just unnecessary expenses to travel during this festive season because it is obvious that the price is only this high due to the fact that it is the festive season.
So I had called my dad and after he too heard the price, we both came to the conclusion that it will be best for me to remain back here and then travel maybe late January or February. So I guess what that means is that after all of that fuss I had made on going back home this year, I won't be traveling back afterall... I will have to wait until the new year.
That's sad, you not being able to spend the holidays with your family. These transportation costs can be such a let down at times. The situation is similar in my place too. During religious holidays, it is almost impossible to get a ticket, which is obviously scalped hard. I hope you have a good time with your family, when you can.
Thanks brother... Everyone is always looking for ways to exploit every situation they find themselves in, hoping to make more than they normally would and it's unfair.. Unfortunately, no one really pays attention to these things, so this people always end up getting away with it.
People get away with stuff all the time. Nice people rarely win.
Plans changes many times for various factors so in your case the similar thing happened. It would be better if you spend the time with family but you also have valid reason not to go there.
Yeah. Hopefully I get to see them some time next year.
