To Live in the Moment

in Hive Learners23 days ago

I have this lady friend of mine who the one thing I like about her, is also the one thing I don't like about her. She's the kind of lady who doesn't like to plan ahead, she always prefers to live in the moment, to take life as slowly as it comes, or as fast as it comes.

The reason why I like that about her is because it is something I'm envious of, being able to live in the moment. Unfortunately, I always find it hard to do that because I'm always trying to think ahead, to see the steps ahead of me so that I don't trip and fall. While that is a good thing to do, to always have a plan, it also has its way of ruining the moment sometimes...because rather than trying to figure everything out, sometimes all we have to do is lay back, relax and just watch everything play out by itself.

But then again, the reason why I hate that about her is because that isn't exactly a good way for one to live their life, not knowing what the next step to take is. Personally, I think living a life like that isn't only careless but scary, because not knowing what comes next sometimes leaves you in a weird space where you just have to be prepared for anything.

So you see, this is why I have a love/hate relationship with how this person lives their life but funny enough, it is this same thing that attracted me to them in the first place, because to me, they are mysterious. It's not everyday that you find someone willing to live their life this way, especially in a world where everyone wants you to have a plan A and B.

This somehow just shows how powerful she is, willing to go against the flow of how the normal world works, just to live a life that she enjoys and most definitely finds peace with. For this, I envy her and do hope that I find the courage someday to live like her, even if it's just for a day.

I'm also one who plans for the next day. But I've been making a conscious effort to enjoy and feel life as it comes. I'm striking the balance. While I spare some thought for the morrow, I immerse myself in as much of today as I can. It's a win-win.

Finding that balance is something I need to learn to do.. Being able to think of tomorrow while being aware of the current moment.

I must say I share your situation. So many people around me just not caring enough. Going where life takes them. And here I am planning everything possible. Guess who's better off....

Lol.. There's actually nothing wrong with planning ahead.. Just that life is too short and it wouldn't hurt just sitting back and relaxing every now and then.

I hope everything pans out in the best way.

Living in the moment is good and necessary otherwise feeling regret later is unavoidable. Moreover I don't think it creates obstacles on the way to planing ahead. We can enjoy the present time and planing for the future can be done a same time.

Yeah you're right... I think I made a mistake making it sound like they both can't co-exist.. My bad 😅
