Self-love is not something you are forced to do on yourself but as regards your happiness. This does mean loving and making sure you satisfy yourself. Self-love also means that you respect and value yourself more than anything; you don't need to wait for people to love you because not everyone would be real, as we have pretentious being everywhere. You can never betray or deceive yourself when it comes to loving yourself for who you are.
Self-love isn't something I do anytime I wish to, it's an everyday practice for me because I deserve it. Taking care of other people; showing love to them does not deprive me of taking care of myself too, because if I could make someone happy, why not me?
It's not necessary to go out to a big restaurant, go on a boat cruise, visit the cinema to watch an interesting movie and what have you, but even in my closet or small space, I can spend less, limit my budget and still give myself the best treat I do need or crave.
One of the ways I do this is by making nice meals for myself. At that time when I decide to treat myself to the best, especially when I have achieved something or done a lot of work and need to spend money on myself, it only takes some thinking of how I want it to be and will get it done while I make myself happy.
I can't wait to go back to where I live so I can have more time for myself as I already make plans on how to self-treat and be happy. One of my resolutions this year is to be intentional in other areas I haven't been giving myself the love apart from making new dishes or doing something that makes me spend a lot on food alone; this is the major part where I self-love. I want to do what I have been neglecting before now and they are; sewing nice clothes, making my hair more often and looking good more than last year.
I have a list of nice designs I downloaded from Pinterest which I already gave my tailor a call about, making her aware she would be making some beautiful designs for me soon because I am serious in this area. Whatever I want to achieve, no matter what it takes, I must make it happen.
This was last year December before I travelled home. Just like I said, doing something like this isn't once in while thing but an everyday practice. This is one thing I wouldn't deny myself because just as my sister would tell me; live your life because tomorrow is unpredictable.
Of course, no one knows what may or can happen the next minute, not to talk of the next day. Enjoying yourself when you have the time is important as you might not live to enjoy later. So, live life as if it's your end, but don't forget to spare some savings. If we must enjoy life today because tomorrow is unpredictable, we should save too as we can't predict the future.
As I was saying, I gave myself the best meal in December and even bought a few clothes for myself. Thanks to Hive, I withdrew some money and went to the market to buy one kilo of chicken which was cut into 12 pieces, fried and sauced, and then ate all within two days. It would have lasted me a week but no, I didn't mind if it finishes that same day while I make another, I just wanted to make myself happy. I called a lady who brought some clothes for me to choose from and I chose the ones that I love and paid my money.
I wouldn't want to stop doing this because it makes me happy. I feel proud of myself for doing this and knowing I do not wait for people to do that for me but to satisfy myself. No matter how much you spend on someone, don't forget to create time for yourself too, because most people will not remind you to take care of yourself because they are oy after what they get from you. Be mindful and careful too.

Everyone hides behind some kind of a persona, so I agree with people not being "real" with us. You can also never be liked by the majority of people in the world, so being secure with oneself is a must. That's something I'm still working on.
