I have had the opportunity to live in rural and urban areas, both offering unique and amazing perspectives on lifestyle, culture and opportunities. Having experienced life in the heart of a bustling city as well as the tranquillity found in the countryside, it has given me the chance to embrace the distinct advantages as well as the challenges that come with each environment. Come with me as I take you in exploring both options with their advantages and disadvantages.
Many times, individuals find it hard to choose from the option of the fast pace of urban living to the simplicity of a rural life but the choice of where to settle in and call a home often depends on what each individual values most.
Urban Area
An urban area refers to cities, towns and suburbs. Most inhabitants of urban areas do not have agricultural jobs, often working in more refined and sophisticated offices like banks, hospitals, petroleum companies, shops and restaurants. They are provided with more developed infrastructures including paved streets, sidewalks, street lights, airports, railways, bridges, tall buildings, roads etc.
Urban areas have a large population with people living close to each other in residential areas. Talking about the environment, these areas are tightly confined and are made up of man-made concrete structures. Lands are used for development activities and hardly would you find a land that is not being built on for developmental activities which makes land to be scarce.
Rural Area
When we talk about rural areas, they are found in the countryside, located outside the cities and towns. There are few populations of people living in a rural area. Homes and businesses are located farther away from others. This is because people are spread out across a larger area.
There is less infrastructure, typically including water wells, windmills and boreholes. Agriculture is the primary industry with most people working on farms or ranches.
There are not enough job opportunities and services unlike in the urban areas except for jobs that are tied to the primary sector such as farming, mining or hunting.
One beauty of a rural area is seeing open and natural spaces of land for cultivation purposes and most of them are being abandoned for longer periods without much development on them. There is nothing as scarcity of land here unlike the urban areas where lands have been occupied with different activities like buildings, factories and roads.
Also, rural areas are blessed with greenery; trees, plants of various kinds to beautify the environment, this, lacking in the urban areas except for a few places.
A lot of people in rural areas are migrating to urban settings because of job opportunities not found in the villages. Not much exposure in rural areas, so, many people move for greener pastures and ways to live a meaningful life while chasing after their careers and purpose.
With the advent of technology and more opportunities coming up, I would prefer to stay in the urban area than the rural area because of the amazing opportunities and services one could be exposed to but are lacking in the villages except there are development being done and carried out later in the future. There is more to enjoy in the city than in the village and a lot of things to embrace for a meaningful life.
Though there are things to enjoy in rural areas too, like the tranquillity of nature, quietness, natural and fresh produce, and experiencing culture lifestyle in its splendour, I still feel one can enjoy this when they travel once in a while just to run away from the bustling and chaotic city until they go back to continue hustling and chasing their dreams.
For me, urban area is okay so I won't be deprived of many opportunities I may embrace for a future life.

Living in an urban or rural area has a lot to do with our origins or needs, so each one has its advantages, disadvantages and differences.
Exactly. That's my point too. Both areas come with their good and bad parts.
Princess, with this your first picture, I hope you're not planning to jakpa and didn't tell us oo😂😂😂
Anyways, I think that your line of thinking is great. That's pretty much what everyone that loves urban life chooses it for - the resources available in urban areas are scarce or completely lacking in rural areas.
I love the mountain view from that last picture. I've always wanted to live close to mountains, but it's not happened yet. Is that your neighbourhood?
Hahaha 😀 😆 I will but not now 😌
Exactly, no one would want to settle for or choose an area with lack of resources.
Oh no, not my neighbourhood but the state I did my degree studies. This was taken when my sister and I went for a trip to Idanre Hills in Ondo State. We went to see the mountain with 680 something staircases.
I didn’t know there was a mountain like that in Nigeria. Maybe you should write about that for today’s HL prompt. I’d love to read it.
Hmm. Really? Okay. I will work on it that for tomorrow. I already made a post today 😜
Okay..so I went to search for a post I wrote about it long time ago. Here is it...

Exactly. Who would want to choose a rural areas except such person doesn't want opportunities. Lol 😆
