Democracy Or Demonstration Of Craze In Nigeria.

in Hive Learners2 months ago

In a country or in every part of the world, everyone wants to be heard. Everyone wants to be free and they want to be able to exercise their freedom right. Are we even supposed to beg for right of freedom or right to speak? No and that’s because if God never wanted us to be free or speak, he won’t create the legs for moving around and the mouth for talking and that brings me to this question.

What is democracy?

It is popularly known as the government by the people. It is known as a system of government whereby the policies, country leadership and laws of the country are in the hands of the people.

When I talk about the people, it’s not just the government or our rulers but everyone or every citizen of the country.

What are the things wrong with democracy in my country?

Well, just a few things like many things, lol. The fact that anyone can come up to say what he or she wants makes sense but a lot of people don’t even know what they want. I know it may be a very huge task voting for the right person but with the situation of things, we Nigerians are suffering and we’re reaponsible for voting the right leader but in all of these happening, we still see some people who vote for leaders that we all know that they have nothing to do but steal the country’s money.

I feel it isn’t their fault. Who knows if they might have been bribed by those leaders so that they can endorse other people to vote for them? Also, there are times when so many Nigerians might have agreed on something especially on Twitter which is the major application we use for publicity and all but on that day, you will see some people come from nowhere to disrupt those plans. It got me thinking all the time. I’m gonna be like are these people sensible at all? can’t they see how we are suffering or do they like the situation of the country?*.

This is one of the major things wrong with democracy. Just because of how we are free, some people tend to act or do anyhow which makes no sense. What’s the essence of democracy if we all can’t come up with an agreement? It’s so unfair and that’s why Nigeria isn’t a developed country up till now.

During election time, we all know clearly that we have the right to vote and be voted for and we have the right to free and fair election but are we being able go exercise it, No!

What’s the point of voting for a particular person but when the result comes out, it will be obvious that the election has been rigged and we now have another person as the winner. It’s frustrating and for this reason, a lot of people no longer vote again because they believe that their votes do not count.

What changes can be made to make everyone’s voices be heard?

This is like a very big task to me because I can’t even suggest a simple solution. Things are far ruined and even if there is a solution, some people will go from the back to ruin it so what’s the point? Nothing but I hope Nigeria becomes a better place again.

Elections being rigged has become a norm in the African space. Citizens vote but I guess the party who’s best at stealing votes wins. I hope things change for the better for us .
