Twenty-two-spotted ladybug
It is a beetle from the family of ladybugs (Coccinellidae), which has about 8,000 species. Body length 3-4.5 mm.
Unlike ordinary ladybugs, they feed on fungi (mold and powdery mildew), that is, they are not predatory.
They live in forests, meadows, on the shores of lakes. Prefer places rich in legumes, also found on nettles. Usually sit on the underside of the sheet.
They reproduce in June, gathering in groups on plants affected by the fungus. The larvae also feed on fungi.
Scientists are conducting research on the possibility of controlling powdery mildew with the help of this ladybug, especially in greenhouses. Some experimental stations have succeeded and reduced the use of chemistry. Adults overwinter in fallen leaves.
Bedbug-soldier, there are also such names: red-winged bedbug, Cossack, red bug (Pyrrhocoris apterus). This bug belongs to the family of red bugs (Pyrrhocoridae), which has more than 400 species. Body length up to 1.1 cm. During mating, the male and female stick to each other with their backs and can be in this state for several hours to 7 days. The female lays eggs on the plants they feed on, in April-May, most often 15-30 pieces, they are yellowish in color and have a lid on top, which opens in 6-16 days and the larvae emerge from the egg.
The larvae look like an adult, only they are smaller and their body is evenly painted red. They go through 5 stages of development, during which they shed and become an adult in 17-24 days.
They live in colonies, and it is interesting that in summer and autumn populations the ratio of males and females is the same, and in spring there are more males, this is due to the fact that the metabolic rate of males is lower, so they come out of hibernation later. wake up earlier, often die from spring frosts. The colonies contain both adults and larvae of different ages.
They feed on pollen, fruits, seeds, can also eat arthropods, worms, snails, can eat dead fellows or even attack the living.
They overwinter in fallen leaves, under the bark, in stumps.
In this photo, a fly from the genus Gymnosoma, most likely a rounded gymnasium (Gymnosoma rotundatum). It belongs to the family of tahini, or blackthorn (Tachinidae), which has 8547 species. Body length 5-7.5 mm. After mating, the female does not lay eggs immediately, they take 8-25 days to mature. After that, the search for a host for future larvae begins.
The fly lays eggs on various bedbugs. After hatching, the larvae settle in the host's body and parasitize it, eating the entrails, and at first they do not touch vital organs, and near the end of maturation secrete a large amount of digestive juices into the host's body, completely digesting its organs and tissues. After eating the bedbug, the larvae move into the soil, where they pupate. Adult insects feed on nectar.
Everything is fine with her wings, they are simply not visible in the photo.
Very beautiful portrait
