On 30th November, 2022, OpenAi, launched a generative artificial intelligence called, "CHAT GPT", it became common and popular since it was able to solve and give answers to almost every question, but unfortunately for some of us, it was not able to generate images when asked to do so.
That was when Microsoft join the race and introduced Copilot, on 7th February, 2023.
Copilot was initially called Bing AI, as in the search engine for Microsoft edge browser until the name was changed to Copilot. Copilot has the ability to analyse images when given to it and also can generate the images, and its answers had hyperlinks that lead to the website where the information was taken. It was good initiative, which made users to shift their attention from Chat GPT to Copilot.
Another tech giant, Google decided to join the competition when they released Gemini Ai, on the 21st of March, 2023.
Gemini Ai, has the same functionalities as the Copilot, but Google had bigger objectives. When the new Samsung Galaxy S24, was released, the phone was said to perform tasks like an artificial intelligence. According to sources, Google collaborated with Samsung to add Gemini to the phone's system, making it an AI powered mobile device. In another recent development, android users can now decide to use either Google assistant or Gemini Ai for their devices when the home button is long pressed
In the recent update of the social media application called WhatsApp, the parent company, META, having seen how these tech companies are developing generative artificial intelligence, added Meta AI chatbot, to WhatsApp, were users can easily ask for questions and solutions without opening a web browser.
I personally have used Meta Ai before since its addition to WhatsApp, and it is a good tool. It can generate images, but cannot analyse images as Copilot can do
Open Ai, wanting to add image generating features to chat gpt, was set to released a new version of DALL-E image generator, which was added to chat gpt, so the chatbot can have image generating features, just like the others. According to the New York times, this was done on 30th September, 2023.
Generative AI's are here to stay, but many are of the view that, it is declining academic performance of students since they are not ready to use their intellect to solve problems. I believe if they are used wisely, the world will reach greater heights
